Report that Sunderland agree fee for Dunne

To all you lot going on about having a replacement:

We appear to have Lescott in the bag and a fair chance with John Terry, according to the right sources. We also seem to be hovering around a few backups. And we practically have a new centre half in Kompany, now the midfield is well populated. Add to this Onouha and Richards and were are going to start the season with lots of options, undoubtedly.

Bye bye Dunney, thanks for the performances and loyalty. For many years you were one fo the best centre halves in the premiership. When you and Distin clicked and at times you and Richards, I don't think there were many managers who wouldn't have had you in their 11.

But the time is right now to move on with your head held high and a place in the City legends gallary.

I agree DD. Thanks Dunney and good luck for the future.

Good luck to hiom if he goes been a great player for us over the years. £2 million is a bad insult though. If its that cheap it must have been in his new contract or due to his wages...

or his loyalty to the club.

As stated on the other Dunne thread, if you review his career, even last season, you will find that he has probably saved three times as many certain goals with last ditch tackles/blocks as those conceded by his very occasional errors. Every player is only human. My only problem with Dunne is his distributional skills, but as an outright blocker, he must be in the Top Six...did you not watch him for Ireland a few weeks ago? He still has it but, like Ledley King, perhaps he needs a rest every few months. In my opinion, he should remain as a squad player as, whoever gets him, will have a great season...mark my words...even Sunderland.

those words are not concrete, we need to have made the signings 100% before we let anyone go. Do i need to remind you of the kaka situation.

2mil is a disgusting price to let someone of dunne's quality go. at least 5mil and thats taking into account his age. anyone who gets dunne for 2mil has made the best bit of business this summer.

Sunderland are not a poor club either.

On skys ports news now that Niall Quinn has confirmed that Sunderland are interested in signing Dunne but so are other clubs......but he is still a city player at present and they have to wait and see if we are willing to sell

MH would not let this go through without a replacement having been signed first sol lets see what happens......id personally hope for Terry but i dont think we have a chance of getting him......Im sure at some point he will come out and say he wants to stay at chlesea...he is just milking the attention he is getting (probably led by his agent)
