Results against decent sides

Also, tactics aren't the reason for every good, or bad result.

Our tactics were fine yesterday, our mentality wasn't IMO. Our tactics were fine in the derby at the sty. Mentality is a big thing for us, and I think it needs to improve for us to really challenge the top sides.

Yeah I agree! plus we aren't as good as many people think we are, YET!
So have we fluked our way to the best league positon for years & a cup final and 1 of the best defences?

Fluked? No. Why would we had fluked it? I think we're in exactly the position we should be and I'm happy with it, really happy.

The way people go on about what we should be doing and how much money we've spent, and then moan like fuck constantly, tells me that too many people think we're better than we realistically are.

-- Sun May 08, 2011 3:48 pm --

It wasn't even mentality yesterday, it was poor finishing. At numerous times we should have gone 2-0 up and we'd'v gone on to win the game.

To break things down;
- Chelsea we do well against
- We struggle to score against United (Conceding 3 goals in 3 games isn't so bad, scoring just the 1 is)
- Have no pace against Arsenal, they play a ridiculously high line that we used to exploit and nowadays can't
- Liverpool we have done well against generally, the semi final obviously had an effect on the 3-0
- Gomes had a stormer last season and they were more prepared at WHL this (Due to their season starting earlier, our new signings etc)
- Everton are ridiculously lucky; Neville hand balled it atleast 3 times at home and we should've killed them off in the away.

I think Spurs and Everton will come into line when we've played them more. Need to work out how to score against United (Bellamy?) and need to bring in some pace for Arsenal (Bellamy?).

hahaha I think you should stay asleep.

As long as we keep beating the lesser teams, the wins against the top teams will come. Win your home games and draw your away games and you'll come close to winning the league

V Chelsea, Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton

This season

Played 11 Won 2 Drawn 3 Lost 6

Last season (Under Mancini)

Played 7 won 1 Drew 3 Lost 3

Overall

Played 18 Won 3 Drawn 6 Lost 9

Overall under Mancini we have won 3 out of 18 games against the other sides in the top 7.

For somebody who braved cold blow lane
Your balls seem to have shrunk somewhat!

Why do we seem to fall short against the decent quality sides? Thoughts?

id be more worried if it was against the bottom 7 hahaa, everton are our bogey team, we have always struggled against liverpool, spurs are very similar to us (alot like everton as a bogey team)... then well its utd, arsenal and chelsea they dont all beat each other, wait till next year hahaa the new invincibles except were not going to draw ;)
