I’ve got 14 years to go as well - and I’m pretty sure £175.20 is my figure also.
I don’t believe that is correct. I’ll have to dig out the link where I found the explanation when I get on my PC tomorrow. Like most things organised by the government, they seem to have made a simple maths problem really complicated.
What they are saying is that you’d have got even more than the figure they quote (e.g. £175) if you weren’t contracted out, but because of this, the COPE figure (e.g. £50) will be asssumed to be paid by your private pension. That’s how I understood it anyway.
