Retrospective 3 game ban for Rooney? [Gets off scot free]

Re: Retrospective 3 game ban for Rooney

The S*n claims he could get 4 matches.

WAYNE ROONEY could face a FOUR-MATCH ban for his elbow on Wigan's James McCarthy.

The Manchester United striker is expected to be charged by the FA today for the incident in Saturday's 4-0 win at the DW Stadium.

He will have until 6pm tomorrow to answer a charge of violent conduct and, if he pleads guilty, will miss that night's game at Chelsea and be banned for two further games.

If he pleads not guilty he could get a three-match ban plus a further game for what might be regarded as a frivolous appeal.

Ref Mark Clattenburg gave a free-kick but did not even book Rooney - although TV pictures showed he was looking away from the incident.

Clattenburg can now admit making a mistake after reviewing replays and recommend a ban.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said: "It is quite clear that it is a red card. He catches James McCarthy in the face with his elbow.

"If one of my players had done that, I would think he was very lucky to stay on."

Roberto - nice lad as you seem you are missing the central point.....

If it had been one of your players he would have been sent off in an instant - with the scum player fouled finally finishing rolling about 10mins later

But it was a scum player - and to make it worse shrek..... so fuck all will happen

What exactly are you basing this apart from a long running myth.

- Rooney getting banned for 3 games following a red card pre season when the same thing happened to Gerrard and no ban
- Scholes suffering same fate as above
- Rio getting banned for 8 months for missing a drugs test when similar incidents have seen players get a fine and players who FAILED a drug test get 6 months
- Evra 4 match ban for getting attacked by a groundsman
- Rio getting an extra match ban for a frivoulous appeal - no such thing has happened to anyone since

Rooney will get banned today i'm sure and rightly so but the replies on here will be along the lines of 'surprise surprise, a rag player gets punished, about time etc.

Re: Retrospective 3 game ban for Rooney

Highlighting the few times you have been punished doesn't suddenly mitigate all the other times your players have inexplicably got away with things that others are regularly punished for.

What bollocks! For over 25 years rag players have been able to kick, punch, and elbow the opposition free in the knowledge that no ref will ever apply the letter of the law to a scum player for fear of reprisals. Then you come on here and remind us of a handfull of occasions when your players have -rightly so- been punished and try to makle it seem like there's a vendetta against the rags.

Something seriously wrong with you pal.

We've always been dealth with in the same way as other teams. Why do we always get the BIG decsions going against us though?

What about Christian Negouai and then Rio...that was bollocks.

Yeah there's no difference between a £2000 fine and an 8 month ban for the same offence is there

are you taking the piss?

you've had one big decision against you this season. a handball leading to birmingham's equaliser being missed by the ref.

in the meantime you've had potato head not being immediately red carded when that could have made a difference to the result. (it was early on & 0-0 with wigan playing well).

scholes clatters a wigan player from behind as he regularly does but is rarely punished. once again all he got was an arm & a smile from clattenburg.

chuckle pulled down a west brom player about to shoot for goal in the area. no penalty & no red card in a game you squeezed through 2-1.

chuckle clattered etherington at stoke & got a yellow card but when he did a carbon copy foul on the same player still in the first half he didn't get a second. you went on to squeeze that game 2-1 when you should have been down to 10 men in the first half.

clattenburg allows nani a free shot into spurs' net after failing to make clear what his decision was. that 2nd goal killed the game off.

then there's all the shit vidic & fletcher get away with year in year out.

and you have the brass neck to say you've always been dealt with the same way as other teams but always have the big decisions against you? deluded or what?

Might have something to do with the fact that Negouai had a far more plausible excuse for missing the test - he was picking his mum up from the airport and got stuck in traffic on the way back meaning the drug testers had left by the time he got back - whereas Ferdinand couldn't come up with any reason for missing his test.

As for moaning about Ferdinand's frivolous ban last season, you're way off beam. United only appealed the charge because it meant he would be free to play in the second leg of the Carling Cup semi against us - they knew he was guilty as sin and that was why the FA slapped an extra game onto his ban. You say that nothing has happened like this since but then again, no club has worked the system since then to enable one of their key players to play in an important game. Oh, and players have been done on the "frivolous" front previously - Aliadiere of Boro for something far less brutal than Ferdinand's blatant elbow last season. Plenty of lower league clubs have been on the end of extra bans resulting from frivolous appeals too - Freddy Eastwood was the first in 2005 which was 5 years before Ferdinand was done and yet you imply Camel Gob is the only one to be punished in this way.
