Return of Supporters

Complete fucking shambles in terms of getting in yesterday (posted a bit in the match thread) but reading some comments this morning it's clear that it wasn't even uniform depending on where in the ground you were.

I was in South Stand and so I got to the usual point of entry for P at 2.45 (my slot was 2.30-3) but the gate was locked. A steward said 'go there' & pointed towards the away fans entrance but that was closed too. Fans were further directed round until we were able to get in off Alan Turing Way. Everyone was herded into huge separate queues and by then tempers were fraying. There were two people on crutches in front of me really struggling and a lead steward was highly aggressive to one of them when he complained about the lack of organisation. At this checkpoint they were only checking questionnaire confirmation mails. After getting through this I went to entrance P and no-one got in first time using the e ticket. The stewards didn't know what you were supposed to do so even though there was hardly anyone in front of me that took over ten minutes. Entered the stadium at 3.25.

After the game I stayed for the Sergio presentation and left afterwards and there was a huge crush at the only open exit, with the stewards panicking and try to move the barriers. Considering there was only about 5000 in the ground at the end this again was a complete balls up.

The club failed to get 10,000 into and out of the ground smoothly and safely and it was an epic fuck up.

Yep I agree with all that. Why give us all specific times and gate numbers to then turn up at the ground and all have to enter via one point and be herded together with absolutely no social distancing at all? Took me 30 minutes to get in and as you say the tickets didn’t work at the turnstiles once you finally got there!

Absolute shambles to be fair, I don’t know how such a ‘well run club’ can make such a balls up of something that would appear to be so simple.

Leaving the ground from the South stand there was a double gate but only one half open. A huge crush developed as there appeared to be no other exit.
A lady steward was stood next to the gates, so I suggested it might be a good idea to open the other half of the gate. To be fair she did open the gate and that relieved a lot of the crush.
Hard to understand why both gates were not opened.

They seemed to be having a lot of issues with the E-tickets which is a concern if they are planning to roll it out for a full stadium.

I queued up for less than a minute on Joe Mercer way but mine was flagged up as "not bought" so I was to a 50 deep queue to have it checked by supporter services. After a 10 minute wait and having barely moved, a steward walked up the queue asking for anybody with a Android device. I clicked on the "show code" section and a barcode came up. He scanned it and let me on to the forecourt.

No such issues at the turnstile, but the reaction times of the scanner was very slow and that is a major concern if they plan on going forward and using these permanently.
Had a few issues getting in with the phone ticket, not a big deal had to wait abou 15 minutes for somebody to get a card to let us in. Sure they can work out the issues that were causing it if they roll it out in the future. Didn't see any of the crushes other saw leaving seemed to be a steady folw as people drifed ot after Aguero presentation.

Think these trails show if we have a 3rd wave we cannot trust supporters or clubs to put in place safe procedures, but likeliness is we won't have a 3rd wave, and vaccinations can get us all back in the ground.

I can, two words....Supporter Services .....otherwise known as fucking useless

City Screwed a lot of fans over today, I went to the ground with my dad today who is 71 to welcome the team bus, (he was stood in the Leezers at SJP in 1968 when we won the league and hitch hiked it with his brother to Vienna 1970 for the CWC Final) We have both had a season tickets for 26 years and have got 21,800 loyalty points each. Today was the first time in his life that he was not present to see Manchester City Lift a Trophy!

We then come home to see Noel Gallagher sat in the stands!

Loyalty points my arse!

I think there are thousands of us have similar stories. I’ve been a ST holder for 40 years but didn’t get a ticket. But Covid isn’t the Club’s (or ticket office!s) fault.

Not sure you can blame them for the apps and scanners not working properly. The technology won't be down to supporter services.
They are the team that decided and implemented the tech, of course they should stand accountable

Wish we could just have a few days of celebration & happiness before we start slagging off the club again
So we don’t mention that the primary goal of getting supporters in and out of the ground in accordance with Covid regulations spectacularly failed, then?

I had a great time in the stadium but the fact is the measures the club put in place to get us in and out safely didn’t work. If you were someone who wanted to abide by strict social distancing rules then you would have been very disturbed by yesterday. It made any other steps they took fucking pointless.

Think the club will have learned from any issues yesterday.

I arrived on Mercer Way about 14.00 and joined one of many queues, we moved through the 'bleep' slowly but well spaced. My entry time was 14.30-15.00 via L2 rather than M to my usual seat.

Watched the blue smoke and team go by through the gates, ambled inside after a wand search actually found my lighter. Nobody at any stage checked I'd completed my health questionnaire or checked any ID. I also didn't see any QR code to add to the NHS app.

Stewards inside were pushing masks until the game began then just asked anyone going inside to put one on.

Left by the spiral at R after Kun's bit and saw no crushes.

I would be surprised if the tech for phone apps, e tickets and scanners isn't outsourced, and supporter services were left to deal with it not working.. Especially as the scanners are old and were designed for cards not phones. Still if that's what floats your boat this week carry on moaning.

Has there been any hint of what might happen next season either from government or club? ST renewals would be well underway at this stage in a normal season.
Sorry if this has been asked before.

Yes, any updates on renewals - Citizen memberships and Seasoncards?

I had perfect day Sunday, few beers in Manchester, tram to ground, queued up for a bit, got inside easy enough and scanner worked on phone digital ticket......no issues really.....a good seat in corner close to subs warming up.....a good game, good celerations......my fav moments apart from Sergios goals....1. Sergio poking big fat member of staff in stomach and messing about having fun with him as he walked on at end. 2. Zinchenko trying to jump up and take ribbons off the wire drone camera....and missing, was like a little kid messing about, just tickled me. It was just bloody freezing! The club and staff put alot of hard work into that day and want to thank them.
