Doing feck all? Let's have it right. The club wanted a straight ballot with Cityzen card holders getting twice as many tickets. CM negotiated that down to increase the seasoncards in the ballot.

I encourage people to express their dissatisfaction at the club. Please email me daniel.bowdler@citymatters.co.uk, I've not had one yet.

But too many people seem too willing to blame the City Matters volunteers for decisions made by the people on six figure salaries at the club.

Despite the ballot information earlier this week giving a print at home option, the email they send says it is now phone only entry.

Also they sent the health questionnaire to your phone too, good luck with that.
The club's official covid code of conduct still has this :

Print@Home or Mobile Tickets only. We will not be issuing access cards or paper tickets at this time. Tickets will be issued as either mobile tickets or Print@Home tickets. Please ensure that you print your ticket(s) in advance or, if using a mobile ticket, that your mobile phone is charged.

 
Understand the sentiment but that was 23 years ago. You could say the same for those that attended in 2006-07.

You can’t define loyalty by how long you have been going, it’s unfair on the younger generation.

I think some fans have to accept now in 2021 for games that have limited tickets such as this one or away games that there is a much bigger demand now with our expanded fan base and you may not be able to go every game and is it fair that you do go to every away game?

It shouldn’t matter how much you have spent or how long you have been going, a change of circumstances in life could happen to you and should that then be it for your chance of ever seeing the team at an away game again because you have dropped down the que?

You make some good points and whatever system that is used will always disappoint somebody.

I used 1998/99 as an example because that was a time the club pleaded for us not to desert them. We really were on the bones of our arse and remember back then the chances of a new rich owner coming in was as likely as it was of us ever winning a trophy again. Although for the bigger games the attendance could swell to capacity in reality it was a hardcore of 28,000 that kept the club going through thin and thinner. As you say that was 22 years ago so sadly a fair few of those 28,000 won't be with us anymore.

For domestic cup finals and home league games almost everyone who wants a ticket usually gets one of you're a season card holder or cityzen. For away league games with only 3,000 fans then yes some have to go to younger fans as they'll never catch up with the older fans on top of the pile. One thing that should come out of the ESL fiasco is supporters of both clubs in the final of the champions league should get more tickets. Finals should also be held in larger stadiums that are accessible for people to get to, not some tiny little ground in the back of beyond

In years to come as virtual reality improves beyond our wildest dreams I feel watching it on such will be almost the same as being at the game so will become more popular and may even replace travelling to games for many fans
 
People seem to think that City Matters have a major voice on what happens. I think that they try their best to make things fair, but when fans are involved, the definition of fairness will be different for each individual member.

They could all agree that something is bad and the club not take heed of that advice.

They're on a hiding to nothing really, but they put themselves forward to try to make a difference.

So go with the system where less people will be disappointed.

Tickets have be distributed on loyalty points for ages I've utterly no idea why this has changed now. Would anyone have been up in arms had they followed that distribution again?

I get the point where we need young blood as I go to the games now at 45 and still feel the youngest there. So, make it full on ballot and give people a run up to the change - throwing this in for Sergio's last game/title lift after a unprecedented global pandemic is ludicrous.

I have been a season ticket holder since 1987, and home and away for over 30 years - including Lokeren, Poznan, and even that pointless game at Santander in 2008. I worked in New York for a few years and flew back for most games. I even missed a promotion discussion with my boss to get to Birmingham to watch us lose 2-1 in December 1997. And I am a London Blue, so have a life-long neck ache from staring at the departures board at Euston waiting for the platform number to come up.

I have missed family events, holidays and business meetings - like most of us - to follow this football club, but even I have only got 19,000 points, so will be ticketless (although an email telling me that for sure would be nice).

So I am not here to gripe, or point fingers at City Matters (who I am sure try their best), but I do think this whole thing has been managed by a group of brain dead gerbils. Why was it not either points OR a ballot? Doing this weird hybrid thing has just pissed everybody off.

I know we need to make sure new younger fans get the opportunity to go to restricted ticket games, but this was a meaningless, dead rubber game that the Club could have sentimentally decided should have been done on points - just as a thank you and recognition to the loyalty of us Legacy fans (given the kicking we've had with the ESL).

A controversial point - but I honestly think that the 'in the moment' live match day experience matters more to fans like us possibly, than some of the newbies, who have been bought up on wall to wall TV football. Happy to be told I am talking bollocks.

Final worry. I am terrified of what the Club are going to do with the Porto allocation - surely they have to get that right?

But could at Wembley a few weeks ago when the Covid situation was worse and fewer people had been vaccinated.
But to get into Wembley you had to show proof of a negative covid test taken within 24 hours prior to the match. So you trusted that the person near you was 'clear'.

The Everton match however has none of that safety. You don't need to take a test...
So it makes sense to keep fans as sober as possible.

Right I will be on to customer services, buggered if I am going out to buy a new mobile phone just so I can go to a football match.
 
People are behaving like spoiled kids. I've been to loads of interviews where I've had no feedback and they've maybe interviewed 5 or 6 people only. Or have applied for jobs that maybe 200 others applied for and had no feedback.

I think it's piss poor when you've been for an interview but I'm not going to get worked up about not getting feedback from an application. I just accept it and get on with life. We're talking about maybe 50-60k here so I understand why the club can't contact all those who haven't been successful.

And i've not had an email, so I'm neither getting a ticket nor on the reserve list. So all those who accused me and City Matters of looking after ourselves had it wrong. Had it been done on points then probably the majority of us with seasoncards would have got tickets. As it turns out, it seems only one has. So if we fiddled it to suit ourselves, we did a piss poor job.

With the greatest respect, what a load of shite that analogy is.

We're, (the club) I say we're but it's never been more obvious the divide from the club to the idiots that pay their money and turn up every week, a multi national highly successful company to almost defend the fact they've not been arsed to send out a 'sorry you were unsuccessful' email is beyond my comprehension.

I don't for one minute think you and the other City Matters reps are in it for yourselves but surely there comes a point where even you have to agree the club has fucked up.

I'm not arsed about going to the Everton game I've said since the start of this pandemic shitshow I'd only go back when everyone could but I applied because my 2 season ticket holding kids wanted to go, I was unsuccessful so what that's life, but to not even be worth an email is shocking yet not totally unexpected from City.

Wasn't successful in the ballot, a shame but not gonna bitch about it and happy for those that did.

If you have been a paid up Season card holder you deserved to be in the ballot, luck of the draw how many years that SC was though and if you were successful, I don't cry if I buy 20 raffle ticket and someone who buy one wins it, thats life amd lady luck.
 
Thought about this now, so my view those with points, get to games many of us can’t, cup finals , away games, whatever,.as they should I. have no issue.
This time a cross section of fans have been given a chance to go to a restricted game, just this once as a one off I think some of those unfortunate not to go despite high points while understandably disappointed could be a bit more magnanimous, as many have been.
This is how I feel too. Continuous season ticket since the eighties, had one in the seventies, but nowhere near enough points, regard myself a loyal supporter and didn't get a ticket. Not sure why us unsuccessful in the ballot haven't received an email though.

Same as me, except I got one and feel fortunate, and at first a little guilty. Then thought I have nowhere near the points as some, was a season tocket holder in 70 s and most of the 80 s, as a cityzen matchday buyer for the last 30 years, but estimate I have about 500 - 600 games under my belt, but not a big points total, so I’m comfortable with getting my chance.
As you say an e- mail to those not successful would be good, just a thought maybe that will go out after Monday when the reserves have had a chance.
