Return of Supporters

I think it would have been good to get an email IMHO but the vast majority of us in that boat knew we were unsuccessful. FWIW, there were Blues with big social media followings saying they would be angry to see an email from City in their in-tray only to have their hopes dashed when opening it. I’m not sure the admin at City could win either way. City Matters are just trying to help.

I am gutted to miss out on the Everton game but I plan to be there to welcome the team to the stadium. It was a bit irritating last night to see the only people I know who were successful in our Branch (of over 100 members) had both said they would reduce or end their support following the ESL storm. That’s sods law I suppose lol.

Congrats to those who have been successful. Please make a great atmosphere for Kun’s last game.

Finally, I don’t agree with the posters telling other Bkues to be more magnanimous. Especially when a lot of posts on here are from people successful in the ballot whingeing about whether there will be print at home tickets or alcohol being sold. Sneak it in if you are that bothered. That said, I’m not sure I want my old sparring partner from 206 (Ged, ES2) kicked out of the ground lol.

Wasn't successful in the ballot, a shame but not gonna bitch about it and happy for those that did.

If you have been a paid up Season card holder you deserved to be in the ballot, luck of the draw how many years that SC was though and if you were successful, I don't cry if I buy 20 raffle ticket and someone who buy one wins it, thats life amd lady luck.
You're completely right, of course, but this ain't an ordinary draw. Many have committed huge amounts of money and time to the club, way more than me, so I can understand the fact that they feel aggrieved that they were left all day waiting for it to happen and got no recognition that they were even entered.

There's a fairness angle here to consider because we might face more ballots in the future and, judging by the responses on this thread, the club need to be more transparent about how it is done and demonstrate that all fans get a fair chance to see our great team. It all came across as rushed and unimportant.

Congratulations to all who got a ticket. Be aware that, even if it's "just a game of football" to you, some people would rip your arm off for your ticket to be able to thank Sergio one last time, so do us proud.

I’ve still not had an email yes no or maybe. Would like to be put out of my misery either way now!
You can only try and buy a ticket at 9am. If it lets you then you were, if not you may be in the reserve pot so would have to wait until 9am Monday. If it lets you then, you were in the reserve pot otherwise, sorry, you didn't win.

Doing feck all? Let's have it right. The club wanted a straight ballot with Cityzen card holders getting twice as many tickets. CM negotiated that down to increase the seasoncards in the ballot.

I encourage people to express their dissatisfaction at the club. Please email me daniel.bowdler@citymatters.co.uk, I've not had one yet.

But too many people seem too willing to blame the City Matters volunteers for decisions made by the people on six figure salaries at the club.
Thank you dannybcity. I will respond to the email. If we have a gripe, we need to send it to the club.

My only issue with this ballot is that is should factor in years a SC or membership has been active maybe rather than points, points can be skewed by platinum, card sharing/point whoring on away games(though now defunct) and someone could have actually attended less games than another person but have more points even if a rarity.

But then someone could have stopped going but kept their card going with someone else and so even the idea of longevity woud then be skewed.

Any method will never be fair to someone, and someone will always be unhappy.

Maybe the sliding scale of points and years and giving a % of the allocation to each group on a scale may have been fair

Genuinely gutted for you bud was really hoping you would get one after your post the other day :+(
Yeh I seen that post too and with a record like that I'd like to think the Club could surely make an exception. I've missed out with a very high points total and my mates lad Seasoncard holder for two years has got one, Am I happy, No, I'm still in the camp of rewarding loyalty and always will be. Citizens should of been nowhere near the Ballot either but hey ho, as for the fuckin email debacle how anyone can defend that is mind boggling. A Royal fuck up by all involved.

I don't have too much of a gripe with the eligibility for the draw, just the way it was done. It should have been drawn first thing on Friday, with an email going out to the unsuccessful first, then the reservists, then the successful. It's quite simple really.

As for eligibility, there's an argument for lots of different ways to do it. They tried to do something fair, but I would have restricted it to those with attendance to a minimum x number of games over the last y seasons for 9500 tickets and then another ballot for, say, 500 tickets for anybody not eligible above.

I’ve still not had an email yes no or maybe. Would like to be put out of my misery either way now!
Yeah it's terrible service not to let you know either way. I have no problem with missing out but not to be told either way is very poor. Especially when you're talking about people have been going for decades.

If that was right and the club originally wanted to give Citizen card holders twice as many tickets then that is a fucking disgrace.

One thing that should worry everyone (who hasn't received an email) is the amount of times, over the recent past, I've had to ring up because they failed to send email confirmation or I haven't received one for purchased tickets.

Same as me, except I got one and feel fortunate, and at first a little guilty. Then thought I have nowhere near the points as some, was a season tocket holder in 70 s and most of the 80 s, as a cityzen matchday buyer for the last 30 years, but estimate I have about 500 - 600 games under my belt, but not a big points total, so I’m comfortable with getting my chance.
As you say an e- mail to those not successful would be good, just a thought maybe that will go out after Monday when the reserves have had a chance.
I honestly do not have a problem with there being a ballot of some type, but there are far too many big blue who have hardly missed a game at home, and go 70% of away games that have missed out here. They could have given the top 5,000 loyalty points holders (or people who have had season ticket over a certain number of years) tickets and held a ballot for the rest. Out of 15 I know, who always go to home games, and on all the cup schemes, go to at least 15 aways a season, and follow us round Europe, only 2 of them have tickets. That shouldn't have happened. We all regularly give up other things to go and watch City, we plan holidays around fixtures, have to sort work shifts out, don't buy that new thing we want, go on midweek away days and only have 4 hours kip to before going to work, it just doesn't feel right that so many people like that have missed out but a citizens member who do the odd match has a ticket I know this year isn't a normal year, but they really have shit on a load of us here, and its not even about the trophy lift, most of us are gutted about Sergio, we were there in Napoli when he broke the record, we were there V Swansea when he made his debut, we have watched him score goal after goal and yes we have loved it and it was our choice, but to miss out on his last game is a kick in the teeth and to be honest at the minute feels like a big fuck you from the club. Along with VAR and the ESL crap it is probably going to be the reason a few of us big blues don't bother renewing. If any other business treated a long term customer like this we would stop using them.

Like many others i am gutted not to be going but i do accept the ballot. We can argue the last 40yrs we have put in but we enjoyed it.We enjoyed Wembley last month.Enjoy the day the one's with tickets and hope this is the springboard to more fans in the ground in August.Hopefully me and my lad are successful with the champions league tickets if not then i will be really p....d.

Those who have spent a fortune out of their own pocket over the years travelling to grounds all over the continent should have had first dibs. A ballot to some seems to be a fair way of doing things, but they are mixing up 'fair' with 'random'. I haven't enough points to have got into the first category but I wouldn't begrudge a ticket going to anyone with more points. Someone who has jumped on the bandwagon and missed half of the title seasons shouldn't come anywhere near a ticket.
