Because that particular part of ceremony was not conducted at the time of a monarch's death, so they have, rightly observed tradition.

It was a completely different world though. A nation needed a strong leader to bring peace to the populace. Much of the squabbles and bloodshed was a result of dynastic ambitions but there had to be a figurehead.

Yep but good riddance to bad history. He wasn't what I'd call a good guy. A lot them were murders and psychos anyway. But I guess it was norm back then. Anyhow, I won't be losing any sleep over the way his coffin looked 500 years on.
