Richard Dunne - one of the many things I'm sick of hearing

He was a bit of a calmity at times and I often slagged him for the own goals but never questioned is heart and desire to win for us.

I was annoyed off when he went not only to one of our big rivals for a top 4 spot (lol?) but the manner in which he went, "we need the money" if that was what was truly said that was just a piss take and disgusting.

Kept him around, tell him he's not guaranteed a starting place and he has to fight for a spot and at least another season with the players brought in and with injuries and poor form I'm sure he would have been back in the side.

But I think he was one of the last remaining old guard and Hughes wanted him gone and his influence in the dressing room and team, where I can understand Hughes desire to have his own team(pretty much) he doesn't seem to have worked out.

Looking at Hart and Dunne at Birmingham and Villa you have to laugh.

I agree with everything except the bit in bold. He was never dropped by Hughes and was first on the team sheet at the start of the season, then out the door last day of Trans.

Like one or two others on here I have pointed out the obvious flaw in the Dunne was shit argument...........he was not untill the numpty took over..........and ask a Villa fan how shit he is now, or any Irish fan.

From whats now 13-14 different players who have played back four, ALL of them have been slagged off at one time or another for "Being shit", now either we are exceptionally unlucky that these all international players have a bad game at the same time ( Saturdays and midweek) ......................OR ITS A F*CKING CLUELESS MANAGER.........who has them playing a formation that has not, can not, and never will work while he has a hole in his ar*e, no matter who the players are.

I am sick and tired of hearing about what a revelation Richard Dunne is supposed to be for Villa so far. I honestly don't know what to think about it but should we have kept him? I know he was in a poor run of form but he was very public about his willingness to fight for his place at City and we fired him off anyway. Mistake?

In many ways Richard Dunne epitomised all that was good and some of what was bad about our club, but he was City through and through and his treatment (the manner of it) highlighted all that was wrong with the new Utd, sorry Garry, City.

To treat our Captain so badly, to humiliate him as a player pubically while still playing for us (Not good enough, no winning mentality) and then to ship him out unceremoniuosly on the last day with a row over pennies.

All this after our ridiculously embarrassing pursuit of an equally talented but massively more expensive player (Lescott 4 times Dunnes price) had finally come to a successful albeit acrimonious end.

All this being after our public high profile pursuit of a really talented leadership quality player (Terry) had failed humiliatingly in the same public glare.

All this told us what was wrong with our new Utd, sorry G|arry, City, it is amazing so many failed to see this and that in large part it was down to Hughes.

So Pam you should never be sick of hearing about Dunne, because it tells us so much about what is wrong with the NEW IMPROVED UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT CITY.

Oh Pam I forgot the Irony of all this we could desperately use Dunne now, Lescott out, Toure underperforming, Bridge dubious, Sylvinho bought through the Scrappage scheme, Lescott out for 6 weeks now through injury, Toure off to the African Nations Cup January and to top it all off Dunne playing out of his skin (used properly by his new competent proven manager) and helping one of our main competitors to third in the table.

The Chuckle Brothers Barry and Paul, could have done better than our Les and Mark.

people are over looking the fact that he has been on fault for 4 villa goals already this season!!!

will always love dunne for his loyalty and commitment to city.....just a shame he is shite

Sometimes players just need a change of scenery and a fresh change for them to start again and put the past behind them.

He needed the move, if he had stayed at City he would still be going downhill.

Agree with this, new environment, new manager kick reignited his desire. Always liked Dunnie and always will, good luck to him.

we should have kept him since he wanted to stay(i think someone in the board is making the calls on dunne/hughes).he(dunne) was a main part of our perfect start defence where we had not conceded in over three games,he also made an instant impact at villa and sorted their defensive void left since laurson retired. so in all, i am not liking the changes too well and am more angry against the board. i felt for hughes today and i believe he loved our club, seems like we are turning on ourselves in the hunt for glory. its poor management to sack before seasons end which was the case with ericson aswell, that effected the team with `boro mauling us 8-1......dunne as a sinor player may have paved his exit with a bit of bitching and poor performances. the board are the ones i m unhappy with.

I said from day one that we should have kept him.

It was a huge mistake letting him go, Dunne has only ever being crap when Richards was next to him. Funny now he has gone, and is now brilliant, yet Toure has come in next to Richards and is supposedly crap now.

Thank fuck for that.

I was beginning to think no one else was making the connection!

When Dunne was playing for us at the beggining of this Season I may have been blind but I did not see an ounce of "bad form". I though he was playing some of the best he had for ages! Also we didn't concede a goal even to Barcelona! Dunne is immense at Villa and anyone who says differently is a fool! Personally I thought him and Toure played better than Lescott/Toure and honestly I've rated Lescott better, much better, in recent games than Toure.
