Richard Dunne retires

Easy for the glory hunters to forget that he was our best player for a few years!

And exciting too, whenever the ball came his way you never knew what would happen next. Great times!

As we were singing in what was his last game.....'He was here when we were shit'.

Dunney was one of the few who weren't too shit tho.

Cheers for the memories.

I actually thought he was in Division 2 with us.. but he came the season after we got out. Player of the year 4 years in a row. Unreal really. Shows how well he performed as well as how well he was liked.

I've seen him mark some of the true greats out of the game over the years for us and for Ireland.

Phenomenal player. He did us proud.

Thanks Dunnie, gave everything and was always here, there and every-fucking-where. Will never be forgotten by City fans everywhere.

(I know he's not dead but I'm all emotional now)

My favourite memory, was him kicking the ball into the sky against someone (arsenal I think) at home, he just didn't want the ball any more, and it was understandable on the night, a funny moment.

He was "great" for us, in often very average times, but he epitomised being a City player at the time, great effort, often not enough skill, but gave all he could.

Hope he has a great retirement from being a player, and that football doesn't lose him.
