Richard Edghill Autobiography 'Once A Blue Aways A Blue'

It was an absolute disgrace the stick edghill got at the time. A lad who was 100% blue, never gave anything but his all and wasn't a bad player!
Just show(ed) we've some right cocks as blues.

With the exception of Paul Lake if ever a City player got a raw deal it was Edghill. It looked to me at one point he was only a couple of England friendlies away from getting a call up to the senior squad for England. He gets a horrendous injury and by the time he is ready to play again our shower of shite is virtually in the third division.

Shame on all those who booed him. Yes I mean you Geoff !

This guy was abused mercilessly by droves of c**ts in blue. The same thing goes on today with Dzeko.

I don't think he was mercilessly abused, like all the time.He had a dodgy spell and he WAS given dogs abuse for being given the run around by Bellamy and a couple of mistakes, aided and abbetted by Weaver, against Coventry.I was at that game and it was very uncomfortable to view,he was in tears almost and i think he was subbed either at half time or just after to spare him.

I was at the Coventry game as well sat on the Kippax. Two Blues came to blows infront of me over Edghill that day. That's how much he divided the fans.

Really felt for him that day, squirming on my seat in the main stand...good luck to him

edgy will be doing some signigs at the ground and in various stores. there's about 10 local branches having him before christmas already and he'll be visiting a some of the further away ones in the new year

there is a twitter feed specifically for information on the book which is @Once_A_Blue

Debut away at Wimbledon on a live game if I remember. Sure we lost. He took some shit

Edit: Looked ok that match, just games later he got shit

I went on the Legends stadium tour last season, and Edghill was our host. Came across as a really nice guy, and it was good to see his passion for the club hasn't diminished.

He was great when he first broke into the team, but was unlucky with injuries. Some of the subsequent stick he got was unwarranted, but for whatever reason he became the scapegoat during a difficult time for the club.

Fair play to him for showing the bottle to bounce back in the successive promotions of 99/00 and 00/01. Stepping up for that penalty in the Play Off final took balls.

I'll buy his book as I'm intrigued.

Edghill's career spans some of the darkest days in our history and would love if the book reveals some of our suspicions (Coppell especially!!)

I was sat in the Main Stand for THAT Coventry game and my real purpose was to "study" George Weah.

As it transpired, Edghill did have a poor game (think he scored an own goal too?? but stand to be corrected)

Edghill did play poorly that match and got so much abuse it was untrue...but at least he was playing with his heart in the club.

Weah, on the other hand was fookin bobbins and couldn't give a shit, and again, if I remember correctly, was subbed - yet at the time was immune from abuse.

Confession time - at Wembley in 99, I too grimaced when I saw him walking up to take a penalty!! Pure relief when he scored!!

If you follow Edghill on Twitter you will see he is Blue through and through

Well the cowards didn't own up to booing Edge. The same people who booed Garcia, Edin and MDM last year. Don't ever believe it was the Johnny come latly brigade.

Errr....

No disrespect to him as he's obviously a big Blue and I'll be buying his book, but am I the only one who recalls that for much of his City career the guy was absolutely wank?

Not faulting his attitude or desire, and I'm not saying that he couldn't have been a top player if his injury situation was better, but people are talking about him in this thread like he was the new Messi if only he wasn't kept down by those horrible City fans.
