Richard Edghill Autobiography 'Once A Blue Aways A Blue'

The abuse edghill received was nothing short of embarrassing. I'll be buying this, it'll be an interesting read.

Remembered all the shit he got and when he scored that penalty I was so pleased for the lad.

It took a lot of bollox as he would have been slaughtered had he missed and he knew it.

I wonder if Paul Lake would have got the same abuse if he came back from his injury not quite as good?

Both showed the same promise and got called up for England squads before having similar injuries.

One of City's best number 3s.

Number 3's ?

His squad number 3 as he was playing at left back when he first got it when they were introduced to the Football League.

Ah, OK. Cheers Corky....

There must be an awful lot of fans on Bluemoon who booed Edgy and helped reduce him to a wreck at times.

Anyone got the guts to come on and say they booed him?

He was a cracking player as a youngster but that knee injury and then the crowd abuse just started. It's a shame because he seems like a top guy and he could have been a very good premier league player had injuries not happened.

Edghill started off as no.22 for his first couple of seasons then he was definitely no.2 by 95-96 - but then came the injury.
He only got the no.3 later in his career - I think the 99-00 season as there was no names on shirts 96-97 and 97-98.

This guy was abused mercilessly by droves of cunts in blue. The same thing goes on today with Dzeko.

I don't think he was mercilessly abused, like all the time.He had a dodgy spell and he WAS given dogs abuse for being given the run around by Bellamy and a couple of mistakes, aided and abbetted by Weaver, against Coventry.I was at that game and it was very uncomfortable to view,he was in tears almost and i think he was subbed either at half time or just after to spare him.

I was at the Coventry game as well sat on the Kippax. Two Blues came to blows infront of me over Edghill that day. That's how much he divided the fans.
