Oh i'm far from whiter than white my friend. Point is my viewpoints changed after i realised how out of date they were. Making a generalisation about people based on personal experience doesn't make it true, or acceptable in modern society.Ticket For Schalke said:Mëtal Bikër said:Yes, let's criticise the person who is exposing these two mysogynists for who they really are instead of the men themselves.
The poor guys, this is a smear campaign against two hard working, decent sexists!
It's not right!
For those banging on about 'Freedom of Speech', there is a proviso to such a luxury. It's called moral responsibility. These two showed none of it and it's clear the Sian Massey comments weren't an isolated incident.
Some people really are whiter than white on here, i've said it many a time, the majority of woman that i know do infact know feck all about football.
what happens if someone said "does Micheala Tabb know how many points a black ball is worth" get off your high horse. she got one decison right, which being in the correct posistion no excuse not too, but she got one horrendously wrong.
"I'm justified in my beliefs because my view has been formed by the people i've met, which collaborate with what i've experienced, thus this is true of all women!"
Is that the point you're making? Because you think it is true ergo it must be worldwide? Because i don't know of one person who has that viewpoint. I don't chat with my mates about how inferior women are or make "jokes" like, "when i get home i expect my tea on the table! Eh, know what i mean Fred, see Fred knows what i mean!"
They weren't being critical of Massey based on her performance, they were being critical based on ONE fact. She's a woman. That's it. That's mysogynistic no matter how you try and slice it or excuse it.
"It was only a joke" Well why not voice them weekly on air? Everyone knows Uriah Rennie is a useless referee, but no-one is saying the reason he is useless is because he's black!
Just as with Sian Massey, Keys and Gray didn't judge Massey based on past performances, in their eyes she is useless as an assitant referee for the sole fact she's a woman. Is it banter, or mysogyny to judge a woman's ability based on her gender as those two did?
I've heard people use the counter argument about Loose Women being accepted and that its not fair! So male chauvinist sexism = good wholesome banter. Feminist sexism = unacceptible, sexist stereotyping.
