I'm taking comfort in the fact he was daft enough to turn down that contract we offered him.

The alarming thing is he was apparently offered an improvement on his ca. £72,000/week wages. Imagine we had tied him down for 5 years on huge wages.

Can't believe we were so stupid as to offer it.

Unbelievable......I can only think it was offered with a huge amount of sentiment involved because his footballing contribution has been on the decline for two years,it seems it has now reached rock bottom.I cant think of another player,in his supposed prime, that has had such a loss of ability.

He's awful ..... I dunno what he expects or if he thinks Liverpool, Arsenal etc are going to be lining up to sign him ... NO CHANCE ..... Will mostly leave leave next summer on a free when someone will take a punt on him. In the meantime he'll be taking a sh*t load of money from the club for larking about in videos for CityTV .....Thats the only dept he offers any value!!

Please don't anyone come on here spouting sh*t about him deserving mote respect .... He's had a lot from City, now he's too bulky, lost a couple of yards of pace and his positional sense looks worse than ever (it was never the best). IMO he really needs to have a long hard look at himself .... For one get some of that bulk son, its not helping at all !!!!

Yep think Boyato got 2 year extension but he won't be in any where near 72k a week more like a basic of 30k

To be fair to Boyata,he has been ok in these America games,i wouldn't have a problem with him as 5th choice.

Barring one or two major errors that everyone remembers, Boyata has always been solid at CB. He is a solid tackler, great athletism and a neat passer and his positioning has always been decent. I never got why so many talked so much trash about him. I know his errors were always painful. But he has always been a good footballer. Again another reason why I argued we don't need a CB. We might want one. But we don't need one.

His problem is his lack of focus, he turns off. Either ball watching or tracking his man, he loses his task and then makes stupid, costly decisions to try and rectify the situation, often making it worse. He got lucky today with that last ditch tackle, in a competitive game, we'd be screaming for a penalty if it was done to one of ours.

Totally disagree. We definitely need a CB.

I think pre-season has showed how much we need a CB.....the defending at times has looked really poor and when you score 9 goals in 3 games but only win once......it really does show up where our need is.....our backups are still not playing at a level where we should be comfortable...will be happy when Mangala has been officially confirmed!!;)

We do need a CB but, as is often the case on here, criticism of Cedric gets overdone; not that I would want to see him feature often. Manuel obviously sees something he likes in the lad and I wonder if DB's problem is one of confidence, someone also just mentioned focus i.e. me may display enough technical skill, especially in training, to make MP think the mental side of the game will develop with age and experience?

Of course we need a new centre back, the clue is in the fact we are shortly officially announcing one.

Boyata's problem is very much mental I believe, physically he has all the attributes,in fact,he looks like he's grown over the summer and he certainly isn't short of pace or bravery.

I doubt anyone will buy Richards unless its for free or £500k to £1m maximum. Back in 2011-12 he looked like a world class right back and now he looks like conference right back. quite big slump...

Too much 'banter' with Lescott and NDJ.
