Yep, but the headlines read

You're either good enough or not, unfortunately Richards got to a stage where he fell behind the level that's been set, no shame in that, just reality.

As opposed to the hundreds of youngsters coming through every other club?
Youngsters will struggle in this day and age with the amount of money flying about, very few will make the grade at the highest level IMO.
It's a tough business to be in and the best are highly rewarded, those not fortunate enough will move on.....Does my fuckin head in when people pass comment on city's kids,it's the same everywhere, your good enough, your in,if your not,see ya.....cruel,but that's how it is.
Richards should know better,he's seen the investment in the training complex and the younger players we have acquired.
I've no doubt he'll be singing their praises when city turn on the conveyer belt.

Micah Richards insists he was not given a fair crack of the whip under Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

And the defender, speaking for the first time since ending his 12-year spell at the Etihad Stadium following his loan move to Fiorentina, has also revealed his fears over the futures of the club's academy talent.

The defender was officially unveiled as a Fiorentina player in Florence this afternoon following his deadline day switch to the Serie A club.

THIS MAY UPSET ROBERTO MANCINI

Former Manchester City boss revealed his superstitious side when he banned players from wearing purple at the club.

The 49-year-old believed that the colour brought bad luck.

After playing an integral role in City's historic title win in 2012, Richards has been a peripheral figure at the club, particularly after the sacking of Roberto Mancini and arrival of Manuel Pellegrini.

And while Richards admits City will always be close to his heart he admits his lack of playing time under Pellegrini rankles with him.

'Leaving City was always going to be sad after 12 years, it was hard for me to leave because I know nothing else but Manchester City,' said Richards.

'But I don't have any bad feelings towards the club, they put me on the map and gave me a chance when I was 17.

'But I do have bad feelings towards the playing time.

'I feel as though I could have been given more chances to play because I felt like I had improved and that I could do it at that level having shown that I could already.'

Richards came through the youth ranks at City, making his debut for the club as a 17 year old.

But the influx of expensive foreign talent thanks to the huge investment from their Middle Eastern owners, has seen the progression of young academy players into the first team become a rarity.

Dedryck Boyata - a Belgian - is the only 'club-trained' player in City's Champions League squad.

And Richards has expressed his concerns over whether City's current youngsters will ever emulate his achievement of making it into the first team.

'Its going to be hard for them to come through, if you look at their squad now there's 22 international players.

'You're going to have to be extra special to get through there. 'Hopefully the new facilities there will help to bring young players through. 'It would be nice to see more coming through, but the standard's pretty high now.

'The manager has always said if you're good enough, you'll get a chance. I hope he sticks to his word'

Their articles really do not translate well to plaintext. I guess it's the amount of pictures they have to use to break it up for their average reader.

Richards actually said nothing wrong, they just did the usual twisting of his comments and made up the headlines. His actual comments were :-
It’s going to be hard for them to come through. If you look at the squad now there’s 22 international players,’ Richards said. ‘You’re going to have to be extra special to get through. Hopefully, the new facilities they are building will help to bring young players through. It would be nice to see more coming from the academy, but the standard’s pretty high now.

This boy needs to stop talking, the more he says the less respect I have for him. How lucky he has been to be paid huge sums of money for basically trying to keep fit and larking about - stuff that others can only dream about. Stop winging Micha, one should never bite the hand that fed you. Of course it could be media rubbish but seriously just get on with your career and, once you have played 100 more professional games - then you can have a moan about the last 2 years!

Don't really know where this comes from. I guess you're reacting on his comments made few weeks ago and even in that interview I don't see any disrespect to City or some whining.

And allegedly he rejected our new, improved contract offer just to play a bit more elsewhere.
