Rickie Lambert

He was but not sure how long for. I'm sure I read previously that they also told him he wasn't good enough to be a professional footballer after trying him in a few positions. The first time I saw him was at Stockport County with a fair few other more PL players. Amazing how they've declined when you look at the players they once had.

Not good enough for us but good enough for the Mickeys.

I am not happy though. Lambert has always seemed to me a pretty decent bloke and is far more Ian Bishop and Joe Royle than Gerrard. As a bloke he is too good for them.

Think he is home grown at Liverpool was there for 5 years from what a scouse mate told me. I think he is a bargain for the money reported but he thinks its a terrible deal for all parties.

£4m seems very low, don't understand why Southampton would take this. He's got two years left on his deal, he's an England international and going to the World Cup, and been very impressive over the last two seasons (28 goals and 15 assists in the league). There's also the likelihood that other top players will leave such as Lallana and Shaw.

On the other hand, for those reasons above, it's very good business from Liverpool for a third choice striker.

That said, I wouldn't want us signing him. Different story if it was Shaw or Schneiderlin though...
