Not really read the thread but I'll guess from some comments in the couple of pages I have read, there are a lot of people slagging him for having a last hurrah and falling short.
I'm not one of them. However dangerous it is, professional boxing is essentially a form of entertainment and I've had some quality nights over the years following Hatton.
Not the best fighter I've ever seen but not a million miles away either. Certainly the best Mancunian fighter there has been in my lifetime. But that's not why I follow a boxer. He always came across as a normal geezer who knew where he was from from. Normal geezers act like knobheads from time to time but so what?
From Telford Ice Rink to The MEN. Via Sheffield, Newcastle, London, Liverpool and many other places on the way. And he never failed to give his best, win or lose.
Loved every minute of it and hope he has a long and happy retirement.
