I'm just catching up with some of the tv footage after leaving home at 10:30 and standing outside the cathedral until the entourage left. A special mention to the interview Jane Couch did and which I've just seen. By her own admission a one time crazy lady, who was banned from every pub in Fleetwood, boxing turned her own life around.and she spoke beautifully about her friendship with Ricky and the backing he gave her and women's boxing.
A cold grey day with specks of rain in the air matched the mood. The sense of grief and loss was palpable and even some of the humour in the speeches, relayed over speakers for those of us standing outside, couldn't really lift it for long. Everybody knew just what Manchester, Britain and the world lost and said goodbye to today. Ricky, I hope you've now found the peace you couldn't seem to find in life. There will only ever be one Ricky Hatton.
