Right back options……

I suppose he is our player and the only cost to us is the loss of a loan fee.
He wouldn't be a long term solution but may be an addition to our squad for the second half of the season.
The ideal situation is buying a top player in January
bringing players for the sake of it won't help either. matter of fact, i'm sure pep wouldn't even pick him over walker. so we need a player who will instantly walk into the first 11

explain how the fact that he isn't good enough for benfica would be good enough for PL? class RB should be a priority, ideally in january
He's played a full season in PL? Maybe he doesn't suit Benfica, maybe he's been injured? Fuck knows. Even fucking Mangala got a couple games when we were desperate in the Centurions season :D

He won't play over Walker or Rico, that's pretty clear. But with the way things are going with injuries and depending where we go in Jan, we could realistically be in a position that Walker is needed to cover CB, Rico is needed to cover LB and we have nobody at RB. I think it that situation he would probably use Simpson-Pusey as CB and leave Walker RB but the options are slim (insane to say considering we have 4 world class CBs on the books).

I think its just that Benfica seem to want to cancel his contract and we are down numbers.
He was very promising a few years ago and was voted best young player in the African Nations.
Akanji currently injured and if anything were to happen to Walker or Lewis we would be in an even worse situation than we are now.

I’d still offer a two-year contract to Semedo at Wolves. Think he might have played with Bernardo (same agent), Ederson, and Dias at Benfica, which would mean he would understand the players immediately around him, and having played at Benfica and Barcelona, he would be able to settle into our system. Has played in most games of late for Wolves, so would likely be fit and League ready, which would be a bonus. He’s on big wages at Wolves, apparently, who are in a state of flux and might be changing manager, so they may accept a deal now before his contract expires in the summer. Not the ultimate fix, true, but perhaps a logical solution to a very immediate problem.
This is a good suggestion. I have no idea why we never go for more short term options, or use bosmans or loans. Would rather see him on the teamsheet now than Lewis or Walker at rb.

the thing is, we clearly need both a RB and a CB, but the latter can wait until the summer. our right side of defense is very poor and unreliable, and we’re being forced rn to play with four CBs. a proper RB has to be the priority in january

I can't think of many 'forced' January buys that turned out either particularly successful or good value.
