Right back options

Then perhaps comment on our current long term approach in 2028.

That's not even being flippant btw mate. We may well be having this discussion in 3 years and I may well say 'we waited a year to replace walker, and look how well it has turned out'.

That's the thing about an approach. You can't isolate specific moments in time.

That's probably a fair point and you could argue I'm being impatient.

But there's a big difference between waiting a year to buy Rodri when we already have Fernandinho or waiting a year to buy Ruben Dias when we have Stones, Laporte and Otamendi and waiting to buy a right back when we're relying on Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis.

True, and fair. But then we didn't have anyone after Serg when we waited to sign Haaland. And we waited what 8 years to replace Clichy(or Mendy if you want to push it) with Ait-Nouri having had Delph, Zinch, Ake and many other non-LBs play there in that time.

I don't think Nunes and Rico are as bad as people make out. Hanging onto howlers, of a magnitude that gets ignored for the likes of Stones, Dias, Walker even. I expect them to play plenty, make mistakes, but also contribute plenty.

I think he is s class player too. But i always thought he was a bad fit. A good striker but not as good as Erling up top. An average wide forward and an atrocious attacking mid. Hus best role was as a 2nd striker in a front 2. A system we didn't play.
Would argue his pressing as a wide forward was hugely important for us in the same way Jesus contributed out wide. Agree his real skill set was as a second striker and he obviously thought he would not get the game time in that position which is understandable. Great finisher. Anyway not the answer to the right back problem which it’s looking like will be Nunes with Lewis, Akanji and possibly Stones as cover.

Who do we need to sell to fit him in? That’s a possible problem.
Good point, I'd try to sell Akanji but he's probably worth very little. Perhaps Kovacic because he didn't lose too much value with us and is around 25 mil worth. Although he's a great back-up. Wharton + Vanderson/Livramento next Summer I guess.

Will he be loaned out? Bah, Khusanov, Reis. They all need to be involved next season
I guess an option at RB. Probably still see Nunes as first choice if true. Replace Rico with a younger player and try get an established RB next summer

People like a boo boy unfortunately. Used to be Mahrez or Sterling now it’s Nunes and Lewis
