Forcing smaller clubs to sell their top homegrown talent cheaper may be good for us but is obviously not beneficial for the huge majority of clubs. No one is forcing us to pay 100m for anyone.True but there has to be a cap on the transfer fee for homegrown players? Wharton right now would be £100m? We probably get quoted £80-100m by Forest for MGW as well?
The big clubs like us have no given right to obtain the smaller clubs best homegrown talent we want without having to pay what they want. Us being in a situation when we more or less have to sign a homegrown player this summer is a result of poor squad planning recently in that area. And nothing is stopping us from buying a cheaper homegrown talent just like Palace did when they signed Wharton who you mentioned for 18m just last year.
