Right back options

That makes no sense. We send Reis on loan then buy a defender?
This 100%. Made up BS, people believing it just really want to see some new transfers for the sake of it.
If we were to get anyone, it would have to be a right-back. I don't see us signing anyone else. As it stands, we have a NHG player problem and people need to leave, not join. Pep said as much himself.

Don’t know if anyone else clocked it but in that open training session. Stones was at right back.
Great just what we need. When fit one of Europes best centre halves. Likes of Stones and Akanji can fill in for odd game but are never the answer for a regular run there. The Akanji, Foden right wing cup final 'link up' is an example of this. These CB's playing at right back mean their first instinct is always to check back inside or play the ball backwards.
Not securing an actual RB smells similar to not recruiting an alvarez replacement to back up Haaland and fumbling around for a Rodri back up (never a replacement) for a prolonged period of time.

Agree. Stones is a brilliant centre back, but certainly not a full back. Plus how long until he’s injured again.

Ffs City sign a proper bloody right back! Stop penny pinching.

By that logic Nunes is the 4th best right back in the world... yes he finished last season well but are you having a laugh or what?

In the prem alone theres Aina, James, Gusto, Porro, Livramento, Timber and White who are all better in that position than him and I've probably missed a few more out. Attainable or not I think all of those listed would also excel at city.

Nunes has only a few months career experience playing right back, hes never going to be the solution and he'll end up costing us playing there. I hope he proves me wrong but it's telling Pep didn't play him in the cup final after a spell of his best run of form in a city shirt.
Is it also telling that we lost that game and badly missed him both offensively and defensively?

Vinicius literally went 11/11 take ons against him where they trashed his club 5-0 while scoring ALL goals over his side

When? Vini Jr. has never scored more than 3 goals in game and not against Mallorca. Che cazzo stai dicendo?
When did I say that Vinicius scored 3 goals? Maffeo got „ destroyed „ when he started to beef with them last season. They ran rounds around him so much that he even cried after the game.

Bit of confusion
What is meant by All goals?

Exactly, while everyone oohed and aahed at Gvardiol at LB he actually was a borderline disaster defensively. Doing exactly what you just said. Being a natural CB he continuously checked back way too far inside. Not blaming him. He did what he could and was a big contributor offensively but anyone saying he was legit LB is mistaken...

How about this point of view...Nunes has been surprisingly good at RB for someone who has never played the position and should continue to be in the mix there for us.
At the same time we should be signing a proper RB. It's not an either/or situation. It's not drop Nunes and sign an RB or keep Nunes and don't sign an RB.
For me It's Keep Nunes AND sign an effin' RB...

Agree, Nunes is decent as a squad player and can be a back up RB. He’s far better than Lewis who really needs to be sold. And sign the best available right back.

One thing that intrigues me is how we havent even given a run of a few games to possible RB's when they were with us, even in friendly matches.
Not saying they would have been up to our standard but Yan Couto and Issa Kabore were bought as potential RB's. Give the lads a run pre season. If they're not up to it so be it.
Porro the same a few years ago.
There is another one I can't recall his name.

Does that make him suddenly the 4th best right back in the world then? No. That's a Pep issue... nothing to do with the fact Nunes is nowhere near 4th best right back in the world and probably ranks outside the top 10 of the 20 starting right backs in the Premier League.

Just because in your opinion we missed him in a clusterfuck final doesn't mean he's suitable to be our starting right back with only 6 months of experience in playing the position, especially considering the level we all want City to get back to.

Barring where Nunes ranks among RBs in the Prem what's telling is Pep chose not to play him in the cup final and we lost...
So that's a Pep issue then... he went with akanji that day which indeed is telling but my point still stands. He's nothing more than a stop gap until we sign an actual specialist right back, in my opinion we wont get near previous levels with him in the side.

Come off it, Lewis doesn’t need to be sold at all. The club and pep clearly think he’s good enough. He’s a quality young player with loads of potential.

Can we take a break from the Lewis hate for a bit. At least until the season starts. We don’t always need ready made players - they have spells out of form as well

Liverpool won the league with with Arnold at RB ( Everyone knows how great defensively he is )

Arsenal finished 2nd with White or another CB who is playing as RB, and I think Skelly who isn't a LB played there and they did really well ( Knocking out Real Madrid)

My point is we don't have to spend +80m on Livermento to have a chance of competing for titles.

If Pep doesn't rate Nunes or Rico, there are many other cheaper options out there.

Whilst I don’t think Rico has the attributes to be first choice RB in the biggest matches, he is a clever and talented player who can cover multiple positions. We also have loads of games where we dominate to an extent that his neat passing and interplay is an asset.

I remember watching an end of season game at Fulham 2 years ago(?) where him and Bobb came on as subs down the right hand side. Their interplay and movement was outstanding and a joy to watch.

He can absolutely be an important squad player for us and fill in at RB.

For what it’s worth I think Nunes (if we don’t sign another RB) is ready to kick on this season - looks like he is happy and has accepted RB as his position.

He, or Rico or Akanji, will be helped by us having a much better and more stable team around them.

If RB is our weakest position (according to many on here) then I don’t think those options are any form of disaster.

It’s a fair enough view but until we are in a position to do it,and that seems unlikely until late in the window if at all this window, a bit irrelevant.
