Right To Roam.

As with all walks of life, you're always going to find some people that are an issue.

From personal experience, I've found most people respectful of footpaths and rights of way. On one farm we had a footpath that went right through the yard and down through the field to woods. There was always an awareness for us because of machinery and livestock, but it wasn't as though there was a constant flow of people and as I mentioned, people were respectful.

On another farm we actually cut the brambles encroaching the footpaths to keep the access clear. Our serious issue there was with dogs from time to time. I'm not sure if anybody has seen the aftermath of dogs mauling sheep, but I can assure you, it's not a pleasant sight and one I have never forgotten.

These may be open fields making up a beautiful countryside, but it's also a business and the livelihood for thousands of families. The vast majority of farmers would have no issue with people walking, as long as they didn't litter, CLOSED FUCKIN' GATES, kept dogs under control and didn't damage crops. It's just basic respect, nothing more.

I don't know the details of the examples mentioned, but I'd suggest if the actual facts were known, some would of course be bloody mindedness, but probably more to do with the farmers fed up with damage, littering and gates.

All this bollocks like, "Landowning rich fucks deny us access because they want the feudal system to continue" or "these cunts still lord it over us and continue to suck us dry." are living in some sort of envious/jealousy/insecurity ridden world. Sure there are very some wealthy inherited landowners, but the vast majority of farmers are just working hard trying to make a living in an industry where it's becoming harder and harder to do so.

I wouldn't be in favour of a broad right to roam, especially across working farmland, but I'm sure there could be many areas suitable to be opened up for walking.

either you misunderstood me or you are deliberately misquoting me out of context for effect.

i didn't say farmers were lording it over us.
i said landowners called lord somecuntorother and their schoolchums are lording it over us.

i also said farmers who use nefarious means to block rights of way are cunts.
no one is denying how hard they work but they still seem to have the spare time to block rights of way.

gentrified landowners along with farmers who block are both sets of cunts but to mix them up together in some sort of trickery to prove a point isn't real.

p.s. don't get me wrong, i completely agree with you about cunts who don't close gates or let their dogs attack sheep but ramblers/walkers tend to close gates and tend not to have dogs.

I'd prefer to make my judgement based on the individual, not on how much money they have (or are perceived to have), or land they own.

I've come across some real posh and entitled twats in my time (the sort that I totally despise), but I've also come across many very decent landed gentry type's as well.

It might shock you to know that I've also found the same at the other end of your spectrum.

I've never, ever felt anybody was lording it over me, so I'm not quite sure why you would.
Having a bigger house or fancier car doesn't make them better than me or you. I don't envy them their wealth, if I want it, I'll work harder for my own, not take away theirs.

Many rights of way in our area were blocked by farmers. In recent years, local authorities have opened them up and forbidden the blockages.
Similar to where I am, there’s a number of public footpaths, however, a few of the signposts have been turned to send you away from the path that goes through their property or, have that many signs it’s difficult to tell whether you’re trespassing on private land, they also let the foliage over grow where the path is they’ve actually fenced across a couple.

What’s worse though, is that where there’s a path that runs alongside their property or through it, they have numerous big, vicious and aggressive dogs the other side of the gates or chain link fence to dissuade people from even thinking about it, I’ve often seen families with young kids having to turn back from their walk because of it.

I’ve always said, if it bothers them that much that people have access to these paths in or near their property , then either don’t buy it in the first place or bleedin move.

Up until the last few years I've been a firm advocate of a right to roam.

But with the huge increase in recent years of visitor numbers to the countryside, all driven by Facebook and Instatwat, and the vast majority of these new visitors being morons and mouth breathers who have no respect or appreciation or love for the places they feel compelled to visit after seeing pictures on social media, then if anything I'd like to see more restricted access if anything.

i'm convinced you don't think i'm having a go at you but just in case there is doubt - i am not :)

you started a thread asking for the opinions of other people.
i replied with my opinions, based on my own experiences.

to be clear...
i am not against all farmers, just the cunts who nastily block rights of way.
i even had a farmer friend until he died 2 years ago so please don't get me wrong on that score.

in addition, this isn't about jealousy of gentrified landowners solely because of their land or wealth, rather, how that land/wealth was originally achieved...
at the expense of extremely poor people who suffered greatly because of the actions of cunts stealing common land and the easy undeserved income it still provides them to this day, whilst poor people remain poor.

i'm certainly with you about judging the individual.
okay, yeah, you're right, i'm generalising.
some of them are sound people, but they are few and far between.

i know it's not a competition but i'd wager heavily that i have met more lord somecuntorothers than you have.

the plural of type is types not type's

it might shock you to know that the reason i speak french, german & latin (although it could be argued that latin should be written rather than spoken) is because my education was paid for and not a state one.

I've never, ever felt anybody was lording it over me, so I'm not quite sure why you would.

you are not supposed to feel lorded over. that's how it works.

you are taught in school by teachers who know no better and by so-called politicians and by the media that the cunts are who they are and that we mustn't dare question it. it is what it is.

again i agree with you, i'm not arsed about the size of their houses or cars or wealth and i certainly have no envy, none at all,
but if you honestly believe that the common folk of this land can achieve similar wealth then you've fallen for their mischievary (is that even a word?).
there are a sizeable amount of the population who have little or no hope of attaining wealth.
how can a 15 year girl who lives in a concrete block with a father in & out of prison and a mother smoking serious shit be expected to survive?
she's not envious of the cunts that lord over her, she has much more important decisions to make.

the reality is it is all down to accidents of birth.

this green and pleasant land once belonged to everyone, not to a few
cunts.
you started a discussion so let's discuss it.

only recently are families who made fortunes because of the use of slavery finally having to say sorry for the actions of their ancestors and trying in some way to make amends.

if you take a look at the moors, most fields are completely empty of livestock.
the land is just sitting there doing nothing and contributing nothing.
and yet some **** owns it.
why shouldn't something that was stolen in the first place be handed back to the commoners it was stolen from so that they might again make a little extra income with a few sheep or summat?
would the landowners lose income if they returned at least some of the unused areas?
it won't happen of course, because they are the lords, but you did ask :)

Land owner in Somerset bought land and created a Berlin wall style fence to enable folk to cross the land but also keep them off the rest of it which they had been able to access before he bought it.
Was he right to do this or wrong?

i have a nice chunk of the original berlin wall and it isn't made of metal and has some wonderful paintings on it.
that shit looks like the holy land and anyway, if you have the correct spanner those things come apart very easily
