Right To Roam.

"US National Park Service rangers have charged James Bond with trespassing in Yellowstone National Park.
Mr Brosnan, 70, was charged with going off trail near the Mammoth Hot Springs and has been ordered to appear in court in Wyoming on 23 January.
Mr Brosnan has not commented on the charges."

At least they didn't shoot him...........'tis the way with them folks you know.

They'll haul his arse through court for such a dreadful crime, yet Trump............

i'm convinced you don't think i'm having a go at you but just in case there is doubt - i am not :)
Never crossed my mind you were having a go at me 2smokinberyls smockfrocks, totally respect your opinion, even though we are poles apart in many of our views.

What’s the point in having a discussion forum, if we’re all put in the same box and can only express the views allowed by the box committee. Too much of that in society as it is.

i know it's not a competition but i'd wager heavily that i have met more lord somecuntorothers than you have.

Oh, I’m not so sure you’d win that bet to be honest, but I guess we’ll never know. Thank you for the correction (type's), very remiss of me, I don't know what I was thinking. :)

It might shock you to know that I've also found the same at the other end of your spectrum.

it might shock you to know that the reason i speak french, german & latin (although it could be argued that latin should be written rather than spoken) is because my education was paid for and not a state one.

Reading that back, it sounds awful and isn’t how I intended. ‘Your spectrum’ was not implying you are at the lower end of a class system (how I hate those words…...class system), more because you referenced it quite often.

but if you honestly believe that the common folk of this land can achieve similar wealth then you've fallen for their mischievary (is that even a word?).
there are a sizeable amount of the population who have little or no hope of attaining wealth. Of course achieving or increasing wealth is certainly possible, but it depends on what the definition of wealth is. For some it would be big houses and flash cars, but to me it’s financial security and freedom. I’d agree that for some it would almost an impossible hill to climb, but for many it can be done. Besides, do that many people want the responsibility and expense for the upkeep of a huge house with acres of land to manage?

BTW, mischievary isn’t a word, but it should be.

this green and pleasant land once belonged to everyone, not to a few cunts.

When did the land belong to everyone?

only recently are families who made fortunes because of the use of slavery finally having to say sorry for the actions of their ancestors and trying in some way to make amends.
You can’t change history, it’s gone, only learn from it. What’s the point of saying sorry to people who have no experience of what their forefathers went through. If people are so concerned about slavery, then why don’t they put all their energy into helping people trapped in slavery today. These people can be helped, changes made to their lives, nothing can be done for people of 200 years ago. A different time, different standards.

if you take a look at the moors, most fields are completely empty of livestock.
the land is just sitting there doing nothing and contributing nothing.
and yet some **** owns it.

why shouldn't something that was stolen in the first place be handed back to the commoners it was stolen from so that they might again make a little extra income with a few sheep or summat?

SHEEP!! They’re just too much bloody work and simply look for any excuse to die or roam. :)

Land owner in Somerset bought land and created a Berlin wall style fence to enable folk to cross the land but also keep them off the rest of it which they had been able to access before he bought it.
Was he right to do this or wrong?

It's a shame it's been lost to the community and perhaps if there is any party to blame, it is the council, are they not representatives of the community?

As far as I can determine from this short video, the landowner has done nothing wrong, the footpath is fully accessible..........although the chosen fence is quite an eyesore.

The farmland looks to be in use for grazing, so it's not redundant and if it was redundant, that's the owners choice. The fence also acts as security for walkers, the landowner (because we now live in a very litigious society) and whatever livestock is on the pasture.
