There's mass hysteria on my Facebook feed that Edgeley and Stockport have been attacked.

I drove past Edgeley's high street around 25 minutes ago and nobody was there - nobody at all.

Stockport is completely deserted too.

I think the Idea with the police is to 'work smart not hard' and let the CCTV cameras do the work. (with the ideal that most of this shower of shit will have a criminal record already). The police are there in my eyes are there as only a presence, making arrests when absolutely necessary.

Now, given that most of us on here have laid down the riot act to this shower of shit, what have we done?


















Fuckall! We woman on the internet that we'd shoot the fuckers etc.. but have (myself included, no excuses) have done sweet FA to to try and help the situation.

We ask for stickys when someone is doing something for charity, but when the shit hits the fan in our own garden, all we do is gripe and post pictures! I thought I was Mancunian. Guess now I aint! Something could have been done to help the Police, as citizens the law says we can assist the police, but all we have done on here in reality is slag them off!

There was a post way back in this thread saying the riots were the result of 30 years of liberalism and political correctness but that couldn't be further from the truth, if anything its the result of 30 years of neo-liberalism, the conscious efforts of a section of British society to re-write the social contract for the benefit of the wealthy few and the promotion of the mindset that "there is no such thing as society."

I don't condone the rioters, who are for the most part only succeeding in damaging their own communities, but blaming this on opportunism and the criminality of "lazy scrotes" is completely missing the bigger picture and the questions this raises about the state of western consumer society in general (remember this happened in France too 5 or 6 years ago).

Wealth is a relative concept. The gap between the top and the bottom hasn't been wider since the Great Depression (and again this is across the western world not just in the UK). The IMF themselves came out a few months ago and warned that growing inequality was leading to instability in the system.

How can you say there are no reasons? Even if you don't agree with what I've said there is some reason why this is happening in the UK at this point in time

There's a really annoying gay guy that minces his way through the centre with his top off, about 50 ear pearcings shouting random gay things to lads on his way. So long as somebody steals him then they can riot away
