The sentancing of those caught will determine whether this country will regain it's balls or will it set precedent for future carnage like this.

Give them a slap on the wrist and a suspended sentence and it sends a message out that you can do what you please, you can go trashing up communities and scaring people because fuck all will happen to you and you might get a free 50" TV in the process, or tough sentences meaning jail terms, long community services, stripping off benefits will send a message out that you take part in this again and your life will be a misery.

I'm off to town tomorrow, with a brush and dustpan and helping clean up the city i love.

I guess I've been a little suprised at the softly-softly approach on the streets, but if they get hundreds of convictions (esp the arsonists), then the right message will have got through to the target audience; we're adults in a mature democracy.
