Always been one of my favourite British actors since Robin Hood, but he played Snape perfectly in HP and I loved him more. Now I know he's a blue and was on here and a sadness has erupted.

RIP Mr Rickman.

My favourite performance of his was as Eamon DeValera in the movie Michael Collins from around 1996. He absolutely nailed old Dev who had a very strange accent to begin with. Brilliant performance. And of course his Hans Gruber was a template for great bad guy acting.
