RIP 'B of the Bang'

For those of you crying into your pints at the sad demise, my take heart in a recent council statement:

The council insisted it may not be the end for B of the Bang.

A spokeswoman said the sculpture would be dismantled and parts of it, the core and possibly the legs, would go to a council depot to be stored for "possible use" as part of a rebuilt structure on the Sportcity site, either in its current location or elsewhere.

Oh for fuck sake. NO! It was a laugh for a while but give me a thirty foot statue of the goat standing on Gary Neville's head in solid gold any day.

As a non-Manc, I thought the Bang was a magnificent piece of art and an engineering marvel. Okay, it's no Opera House, but it was significant in its own way.

RIP

Went past it on the train earlier today.

Little b of the Bang.
