I haven't posted on here for several years, but this news compelled me to re-register to post my thoughts.
First of all, condolences to Bill and his family in what will be a very difficult time, but I hope the strength and positive feeling of knowing how well thought of he was by the City family will bring them comfort.
I've been on and off here for about 15 years now and Bill was always one of the stalwarts. I must have met him once, maybe twice, 10 or 12 years ago, but for an often immature and confrontational young poster on here back in the day, as I was, he was always someone who commanded the utmost respect and he was on occasion a firm but fair uncle type of figure on here to me. I'll always appreciate his posts and messages and the news of his diagnosis was an unfortunate blow to everyone.
Bill, much like Sue and Sam over a decade ago now, was one of the icons of this forum, one of a handful who fully deserved the esteem and regard they were held in, and he'll be sorely missed.
It's a reminder to us all to cherish and appreciate the time we have with our nearest and dearest, because we never know how much longer we have to enjoy their company.
Bill went out with us treble winners and world champions - and he deserved nothing less for everything he gave to the rest of us.
Rest in Peace.
