RIP Donald Farrar

That’s the one haha!
Unfortunately victory was short lived as they soon regrouped and gave us a hiding on the ramp upto the Bullring/station!
That Ramp is very famous. So much action must have happened there.ova the years
I can remember just ,missing a tear up ,on the ramp, back in the 80s.
It was like the wild West.

Around 2004/5 I found myself in Rochdale with work, it was Cheltenham week and I wanted to get a bet on. So I was driving through the main road where all the flats are and I could see a bookies on some precinct. I got in about 10 mins before the first race and was writing my bet out, I heard someone whispering cccoooooool ccccaaaatttssss behind me, I knew there n then it was DD. So we had a quick chat etc and within 2 mins "You haven't got 2 quid(inflation) have you mate, really fancy this in the first" etc etc. I didn't have any change so I gave him a fiver and said we'll go halves if it wins. I'd already put my money on one that's still running. Anyway, his tip came somewhere like 5th(better than mine) So on leaving I said see ya at City Donald.."Before you go "I really fancy this in the next" I told him I'd done my money in and fucked off. Checked a bit later and that horse only fuckin won at something like16s. I only seen him a few times after that, usually outside the Etihad mooching. A proper character. Had he been ill does anybody know?
Inflation. Good old Donald.

Reminds me of being on a Yelloways coach coming back from an away game mid 80's. One of the lads set fire to his newspaper and Donald was stood there oblivious with flames coming out of his arse saying 'Can anyone smell burning?' : )
I remember him on a Yelloways coach when he got up on the luggage shelves for a kip. Someone set fire to his kagoule. He jumped down asking everyone on the coach to chip in for a new coat, which most did.. I think it might have been away at Forest, he was still outside the turnstiles cadging 10ps.

My other Yelloways memory of Donald was him getting on the coach with two 2 litre bottles of what looked like cloudy pond water. When asked, Donald said it was home brew. We told him it'd blow his socks off and when did he make it. 'Last night' was the reply! Fair play to him - he finished both bottles!

Genuinely thought he was a Red for years Seen him at loads of United away games in the 80s. I think his mentality was I'll go where I can be a nuisance. RIP

There should be an applause on 10 mins for him at the Villa game.
With all the Pep, Bernie and Stones leaving stuff going on, I can see why it may have been glazed over… but it’s a shame there wasn’t a banner made for him for the last game of the season or at least, as you say, an applause.

I suppose a lot of the younger lads now won’t know who Donald was though.

A few of us got off the train in Wilmslow on the way back from pre season friendly at Crewe or Chester (can't remember which). Donald has been doing his usual cadging off all the fingies he could find, and in one of the posh Wilmslow pubs he was sat at the bar drinking a cocktail and eating olives... Not so daft then...
