RIP John Prescott

I think there is a lot of similarities, both obviously Labour through and through, have campaigned and worked closely together, both serve as deputy leaders, both known for their strong working-class roots and often shared their personal background experience in their political narrative.
Both vocal advocates for workers rights and social justice, environment and focus on inequality and public services.
They're both straightforward talkers and more down to earth with the public than the general 'posh' politician, both outspoken and both can land a punch!

but yeh, nothing like each other.

I can see both sides :)

I go back to the point I made earlier.....the more 'normal' folk in Parliament the better. Rayner and Prescott being two examples. We could do with far less privately educated, International Relations, Classics and PPE graduates from the Home Counties, with little to no career to speak of, making important decisions that have an impact on primarily a working class population.

Not offence to any Bluemooners but we could do with less legal types in Parliament especially barristers. It is not ideal having a country run by sophists :)

She's not very popular in Tameside..well not to people I speak too

Well, at least she is present. Not quite sure the same could have been said for the likes of James Purnell (posh boy parachuted into a seat where a dog with a red rosette would win) in Stalybridge & Hyde.

RIP

no matter your politics he was a credit to our political landscape, his type would never get a look in with the twats in every party now
