only saw him "live" on TV. 62, 66 (kicked to fuck) and of course 70. we took him for granted . didn't know how lucky we were .

Absolute legend of the game and someone who was universally liked and respected. Growing up in the 80s, he was the greatest and as others have said he seemed to transcend football. He was a genuine world superstar.

I know people age and pass on, but with people like The Queen and now Pele, these rocks who've been around forever are passing away. The icons from the 50s and 60s will soon be no more, but what memories they have left. I was too young to have him play, but everyone who saw Messi, Ronaldo and Maradona play all said Pele was the greatest player they'd ever seen.

RIP Pele.
