RIP Pele (p9)

really bums me out, felt like he held my hand and introduced me to the sport - the pepsi films, his book - got to see him play once tho, rip

only saw him "live" on TV. 62, 66 (kicked to fuck) and of course 70. we took him for granted . didn't know how lucky we were .
I remember my late dad telling me stories of how he was smashed in ‘66, teams scared of his talent, hope your ok by the way mate ;)

I'll call it now - can we please just have the utmost respect for the passing of one of the games absolute greats. So many will be on social media with GOAT and Messi and Ronaldo and Cruyff - enough for now - Pele has passed and its like when Ali passed - RIP a guy who transcended sport - we will never see your like again

On what I remember as a sunny afternoon in the summer of 1970 I sat in a pub with schoolmates, supping a pint and watching what seemed a kind of miracle. I'd seen the Real-Eintracht final on film a couple of years before, but to see this happening in front of your eyes, in real time, was something else again. It redefined football for me. It was a waking dream. In what City players have done since, but not only them, all footballers, I've been looking for that to be replicated.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento — get up there and try to head that ball past Gordon one more time…
