A little before my time but indeed a an absolute legend of the club. RIP Mr book, God bless. Condolences to family and friends.

Lovely bloke. Had the privilege of chatting to him in a London pub prior to the Palace game in 1979. A journo asked came in and asked him if it was true if City bought Michael Robinson without knowing he had fractured his skull heading the crossbar in his last match for Preston - Tony jumped up, led him to quiet corner of the bar where they engaged in earnest conversation - never saw any report of that rumour in the press but I think it was true.

What a gentleman, what a MCFC legend. He presented me with a player of the year trophy for Stockport Junior Blues in the early 80's, and I was so in awe of him. RIP Skip
