RIP Tony Book

Doesn't represent Manchester in my eyes at all. Certainly changed as a local paper.
MUEN the same but this is the BBC Main Sport Page - that Salford ratsnest of scum & dipper shills have probably never heard of Tony Book anyway. Utterly contemptible editorial decision to deliberately disrespect the death of a City great. Fuming!

They have done it, but only in their rolling daily football news page..

It’s on the City page on the BBC website, but not the main sports nor football pages.

I only checked the main football news page on the site, he deserves more than being a side story elsewhere on the site.

He should be in the main section with the main stories and high up it too but the fact it isn't, sadly it doesn't shock me in the slightest after all he wasn't at a cartel club.

Waltzing to Wembley
Waltzing to Wembley
You'll come a Waltzing to Wembley with me
And we'll see Tony Book
Holding up the FA Cup
You'll come a Waltzing to Wembley with me.
First song I heard at Maine Rd at the FA cup quarter final in 1969, I was 12, life long hero of mine. Not a mention of his passing on N W news this lunch time. Wonder if he'll get the same coverage of his funeral Uniteds secretary got (god rest her). God keep you skip

Sad news indeed ... when I first started watching City in 1969, this guy said as much about City, as Lee, Bell and Summerbee did, a real City legend, he always gave his best on the pitch and to every role he undertook thereafter.

He was always a real nice guy too, always had time for people.

It can't be anything other than a conscious decision at management level to deliberately downplay our club in the media, specifically those BBC twat's at Media City. They only give us headlines when it's something that paints us in a negative light.

When he came out on the pitch at Old Trafford last season, I feared it wouldn’t be long until this news came out, as he did look old and frail then.

But that’s a great age, 90. Well done to the fella!

A Manchester City icon… ‘Skip’!

I had the pleasure of meeting after the Stoke game when Shawcroos tried to kill Sergio (and Mson just ignored it). He and buzzer both said if he'd done that to Kiddo, Franny, or Joe Royle Shawcross would been carried of on a strecher. I lived the City team he built and the way he really gave youth a chance. We are all going to passaway at some point, but he will always be missed. God bless you Mr Book, RIP

Sad news. Tony was a really nice guy.

For younger fans who wonder who he was and why he’s important here’s a piece on him:
