RIP

Can still remember it as if it was yesterday, awful tragedy.
Many people at the time though recalled what happened at Heysel and didn't have a lot of sympathy for Liverpool fans.
RIP

??? Care to elaborate on this statement?

Making a big deal of it every year and constantly bringing it up. They should never be forgotten but the families can never move on as it's always in their face what happend two decades ago, always on their mind, constantly listening to the stories every year about what happend, bringing the memories back again.

21 years have passed now, i just wished they both (fans and police) accepted that they were both to blame and remember the horrible tradegy quietly every time the anniversary passes instead of this grand hoo hah they produce every year.
The nation stops for Rememberance Sunday. I know the death toll was much larger, but lives were still lost. This was a black day for football and an even worse day for Liverpool. Surely if 96 City fans were crushed to death, you'd do a minute silence every year to remember them, and make a huge song and dance, wouldn't you?

Of course we would but blaming everyone but themselves for Heysel leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

For those who are making snidey comments such as 'this again' and saying they wish the Scousers would let the deceased rest in peace rather than persue their fight for an official admission of culpibility (rather than simply type RIP or ignore the thread) -

Can I just point out that (to my knowledge) no Liverpool fans have posted anything on here. It is entirely condolences from blues.

If the Scousers have never mentioned the tragedy in the previous twenty-one years or if they've mentioned it often.....it doesnt change the fact that today is the twenty-first anniversary of that terrible day and some empathetic, decent blues wish to pay their respects on a City forum. Why would anyone have a problem with that ffs?!

come on blues...it was there own fault. they decided to carry on going into the stadium even though the police was saying no more. they brought it upon themselves so therefore no justice should be given! if you think im being harsh then thats your opinion but my opinion is fuck them!

Next time you go to Anfield pay a visit to the eternal flame. Notice the dirty twenty year old teddy bears and scarves. They belonged to the names carved on the stone either side of the flame. Then read the names; see the matching surnames, brothers, sisters, father and sons, cousins. It's like reading a war memorial. And then remember this: they didn't go to fight in a war, armed to the teeth, they only wanted to see their team reach the cup final, like City fans at Villa Park in '81, like Villa fans at Wembley last week. Can you get your head round all of that.

And have a listen to this whilst you're at it...

One minute of Peter Jones, it's enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Rest in Peace.

I would do yeah, just like i always remember friends and family who have passed away when the day comes around.

My point is, if someone in my family had died a horrible death i wouldn't want to go through it all again every year when the anniversary comes around, especially after 21 years, listening to the horrible stories, to the anger of the families. I get a feeling of "oh here we go again" as it approached.

It's different to Rememberance Sunday aswell, we honour those who died half a century ago with a one minutes silence every year as they died to protect us the future generations and in terrible and awful conditions and it is because of them that we have all the rights we are given today, the Hillsborough disaster was an unfortunate accident.

You don't hear anything about the Braford fire disaster in 85 (56 died), the Ibrox disaster in 71 (66 died), the Heysel disaster in 85 (39 died) or even the River Plate v Boca Juniors game in 1968 where 74 people died in a crush, all them events are never forgotten and rightly so but they are not given a Michael Jackson funeral type circus that happens with Hillsborough and even the Munich 1958 disaster. It's like both Liverpool and the rags are saying their horrible tradegy's are more important than anyone elses as they happend to Liverpool and Manchester United.

Just let the innocent people who lost their lives going to a football match rest in peace ffs.

It does with me too. I have a great deal of respect for the Juve fans who refused to join in with the 'themed' love-in when they met a couple of seasons back. The Scousers have completely rewrote history as to what happened there and see it as a blameless tragedy rather than the manslaugter that it actually was.

However....were any of the 96 individuals who were crushed to death at Hillsborough also at Heysel charging towards the Italians? It is extremely doubtful. And even if one was.....people who bring up Heysel every time Hillsborough is mentioned leave a bitter taste in my mouth Bluemoon32 because the overt intimation is that Liverpool reaped what is sowed in 1989. Which is thoroughly sick and heartless.

How anyone can compare ww2 to fucking Hillsbrough is beyond me lol.
Liverpool still act like arseholes robbing there own fans in Athens and attacking locals. Everything bad that has happened in English football runs threw these scumbags.
Its just a travesty 96 innocent people had to die.

They even made a flag to take the piss out of everton not getting in europe.
Because Liverpool decided to murder 39 juve fans.
Every year they have a party for Munich.(even city dont do this)

Ive got a couple of workmates who were there that day and lost their brother in the crowd, luckily and thank god they found him alive and well but they still went through hell that day, just looking at their faces when they talk about it makes me realise that no matter how much we all love our own clubs, football doesn't really matter that much.

Heysel has nothing to do with Hillsborough... Only thing in common is people lost their lives and Liverpool were involved.. Don't try and combine the two...
