Apparently what happened was that Boris gave rishi the ‘Big Book of Farming‘ which is the central plank of tory agriculture policy. You know the one where the cows go ‘moo’ and the dogs go ‘woof’ and the pigs go ‘keep that weirdo Cameron away from me’I work in a farm office, and we have just received what is effectively a personal campaign letter from The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP detailing how much he is doing for farmers on DEFRA headed notepaper - the Government organisation responsible for dealing with farmers.
That is the equivalent of the DWP sending out a personal letter to all claimants on their headed notepaper, or the DVLA sending a letter from Rishi to all car drivers with a one sided personal view of what he has done for them. I am quite shocked that this is allowed.
It says its not Rishi's fault things have been bad (Ukraine flooding etc) and then talks about how much they are spending on farming as if it is all down to him but doesn't mention the 20% annual reduction in the existing farming subsidies that they have been imposing.
"It is farmers who feed us and proudly steward the land. You do it not for praise, or high reward but to put food on our tables and to maintain a way of life that really matters"
in other words carry on but don't expect to be rewarded financially!
He must have been spooked by the poll showing that even farmers have given up on the Tories

Anyhoo in a later chapter it says how growing crops requires a great deal of well rotted manure and horse-shit and wee rishi got the wrong end of the stick and sent this……
