Not sure what Metric this is based on.More important player than Raz and Jesus but also older. Probably the one I’d want to keep of the three still.
I remember Beckenbauer going into the 1990 world cup talking about the average age of 27 and that is exactly the right age. No one else would bother with such things at the time, but West Germany had more attention to detail than anyone else at that time.I think there is a stigma attached to any player aged 30 or over that they are finished. Mahrez (like Salah) looks like someone who could easily play another 3 years at the level required at City. Like many who join he had a difficult first year but he’s now one of our most important players. It’s one thing having the majority of the squad in their thirties, but we don’t. This is a good move and I’d be delighted if it happens.

I don’t think that’s the case. We would sell him over Jesus or Raz if it was down to us (IMO). He may not want to go and there are no takers as far as I can see, so we’re stuck with him. I just don’t see the rationale for a new contract given his limitations.Because we 'd rather not sell him.
