Sounds like we've been talking to him and Leicester over the last few days(problably started when we knew Sanchez wasn't coming) and both clubs have agreed to release this to the media once the Laporte deal was done. I actually think he'll be at The Etihad tomorrow night

When he's played the position behind the striker for Leicester it's very difficult to get the ball off him. I think he'd mostly be a winger for us but he could definitely fill in for Silva and De Bruyne if needed.

It would be one hell of a load off Dave!

We definitely need someone to share the burden of those 2 players, you just know one or both of them getting injured would hamper us in the latter cup rounds. He's scary when he cuts in from that inside left position onto his left foot but I wonder if his passing is good enough to play deeper. Mind, I thought that about Kev too.

Like I said, that's not to say all of those players will be here, because they won't. That's just who we have to choose from.

I would assume the 17 foreigners would be Ederson, Bravo, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, Laporte, Mendy, Fernandinho, Fred, De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo, Gundogan, Sane, Aguero, Jesus, and Mahrez. Out of those I would say there is a definite possibility that Bravo and/or Danilo is not here next season.

Yeah I think it’s a lot of money, especially for a player who hasn’t really been at his best for the past two seasons since they won the league. Also think it further restricts the chances Diaz and Foden will get which is disappointing.

It's been mentione trhat both Foden & Diaz are central midfielders, who have slotted in if needed out wide. To be honest mate, neither set the world alight which is understandable as they're young & essentially out of position. Mahrez is another whose form seems to have slipped as his team has clung on for him. BUT at 26, don't you think he has time on his side?

Really hope we can get this done. I think he’d be a brilliant addition. I keep reading from journalists and rival fans that City don’t need Mahrez, but going into the business end of the season with only three fit forwards (for three positions) would potentially jeopardise what could be a record breaking campaign. Makes much more sense to do summer business now.

I can't help but think agreeing a fee with Leicester will be almost impossible on this. Unless Mahrez kicks up so much shit that they decide to just let him go then they are going to want an absolute fortune this late in the window.

Possibly, but he's been wanting to go for 18 months though hasnt he, and they will have known that, so to insist on keeping him this far down the line seems a bit short sighted and unrealistic to my mind. Its not like there was a lot of competition for him this window. They turn down the amount we are offering now, and they'll never get offered anything like that for him ever again

It's almost February, we are still in four comps. With our best team out we are unbeatable, but teams are trying to kick us out of it. If we don't have top quality replacements to cover our injuries we will struggle. We need to throw the kitchen sink at it, and if that means buying a top quality player like Mahrez , who may keep an academy player out, then so be it.
In my opinion we have the best team and the best Manager but have an opportunity to improve, if we can get Mahrez,. It's unusual for a player of his quality to be 'available' in Jan and we should go all out for him.
