I am not. We knew what they wanted yesterday. We spent 24 hours using the player to try to get them to drop by that amount.
We were never going to pay £90 m so we were trying to get a huge last minute discount from someone not really interested in selling now.
That is not great transfer strategy in my view.
Always thought the 20m offer for Sanchez was deliberately derisory because we were having doubts about him as a player, or possibly we had already heard rumours that the agent wanted more. We wanted out.
This one seems different. Surely we had some idea of what they wanted. The price was bouncing around all over the place. Ending up higher than it was at lunchtime. Did we piss the Leicester owner's off in some way?
Pathetic that City fans turn on each other for differing opinions. Those who say it's a complete farce are speaking honestly their opinions. Those who think it was best avoided are equally entitled to that point of view without abuse.
For sure we have not endeared ourselves to Leicester and perhaps Mahrez. Furthermore we may be holding the financially moral high ground however I personally do feel prices are only going up and quality players only become available on rare occasions.
Time alone will tell which approach was correct.
I've just read the BBC sports site and according to Simon Stone, Leicester 'came to us with a proposal that would have included a player'. If so, I can't see how it's us who've behaved inappropriately. How would any of us know?
I know pal and that's why my whole comment wasn't aimed at you, just the point that I'd rather miss out on a cup, than gamble (That's what it us, a gamble) on our future.
