Riyad Mahrez

The big difference here is De Bruyne undervalued at 110m while Mahrez was overvalued at 95m. We can argue about that all day. But if De Bruyne wasn't happy, we would gladly sell him, even at 110m, i might say even less. We rarely if ever made profits off of our players since the takeover.

The thing is mahrez is not worth 95m he is worth around 50-60m while de bruyne is worth an eaay 140m. De bruyne is head and shoulders above anyone in the premier league in his position and only a few on his level or above at the moment in the world.

Coutinho went for massive money and de bruyne is better.

Haha.

I hope he does join us. His price should drop, depending on how much he plays and how well, £30m would be a steal.
There'll be a lot of suitors for a price higher than £30m, Txiki can't lowball Foxes like this.
Expect a bidding war for Mahrez next summer: Juve, Bayern, Chelsea, Liverpool, even Madrid could be interested knowing he's available. I'm not sure City are eager to take part. Repeat the £50-60m bid, jog on if they refuse.

Can’t see Juve being interested, they are stacked in that position. Chelsea and Liverpool might be. Bayern will offer the lowest in wages so doubt he’ll go there and Madrid will go for a galatico signing.

Even £50m would be fine but I think Liverpool weren’t willing to go that high in the summer so can’t see them meeting this valuation after the recent events.

Looking at the market he would probably provide the best value. Don’t want to bring in another youngster as we have enough. The attacker we bring in needs to be proven IMO and Riyad is just that.

But you're not taking into account possible future transfers. For example, Hazard moving to Madrid for £150m triggers Chelsea's bid for Dybala. In that case Juve would need a skilled SS/inside forward immediately. And so on, we can't even imagine all permutations.

As for Liverpool, they've just paid more for a defender, PL teams aren't poor these days :)

Of course if we take into account departures he can go anywhere. Would love him here!!

Think we shou lhave offered £65m + £15m in add ons - £5m for every 20 goals/asssits/key passes.
Others will be in for him in the summer.

Not getting the transfer over the line in the last widow exposes the opportunity for other interested clubs to enter the bidding in the Summer, assuming that Pep still wants the player then.

If the player wants only to sign for City, then it could well be that a reasonable bid for him will secure the signing. ( Not forgetting the Dani Alves, Sanchez certs !!! )

I think Mahrez would be a good signing, but I'm not ITK and have absolutely no idea who Pep may have identified as an alternative.

When does the window open ?

From what I'm reading, the window opens around May 17.
Clubs will be able to sell players until August 31, but they won't be able to bring in replacements after the deadline of August 9.
