The paper-talk is Leicester trying to scare Mahrez into coming home and playing out the rest of the season on his best behaviour.

We all know that if this story came from City's end it would be the usual suspects reporting it first, not random reporters.

We were never expecting to get £90m, I said from day one I think we'd have accepted something around VVD money and all the noises in the local media suggests as much. Come the summer it's a totally different thing, we have time to get a replacement for starters and we're working in the summer market rather than the January market, which is always more costly. An actual money bid of £55m-£65m (not a + player bid) in the summer could get him quite easily presuming he comes back to work after our game.

If he doesn't come back to work, then all bets are off as the owners will be fuming and could want to make him pay.
They say a fool & his money are soon parted, & from what you said, your owners are ambitious & no fools.

HOWEVER, £65m is £65m & it's a shit load of money to wipe your mouth on just for the sake of principle. I've said previously this will have echoes of Sanchez in that your owner may look back on January gone & think 'Shit, if we could have that January again, we'd have taken the £65m for a player who didn't want us & move on.'

I bet they're not feeling that clever or principled now? They could have had £50m in the bank for a player who cost less than £0.5m, PLUS an England U21 International who ticks the English club trained box too.

I really wish this was a ruse on Pep's part to get them to lower their price. But no, probably not.
Which U21 international?
