Great news.

Be interesting now to see if it's "just" Mahrez and Jorginho or if other names will continue to be linked.

Which would constitute a great window. As was said in the.season review, adding quality not quantity is key. Both those players take us a step forward.

The rags will overtake our net spend this summer and will still finish 20 points behind us next season.

It would be so great if we could land Mahrez and Jorginho before anyone else gets a big deal done.

Psychologically for the rest of the league, it would be a big blow IMO, we win the league with 100 points and then add 2 very good players, world class on their day, while everyone else is pissing about on their holidays.

The damage isn't just psychological though.

It effectively takes us off the chess board so we can't be used as "well you put a bid in, but City are sniffing around".

It'll cause teams to have to shell out big time to get their targets out of clubs.

Let's not forget last season where no big business was done elsewhere until we were done.

I 'd have thought it was the other way round, having our name put in the frame would push the price up.

Not necessarily. Not having us in there means they can't say "he want's to play for Pep" and use that to squeeze money out of the interested party.

It'll be "he's not going" so they'll end up raising the price. At least that's how I'd see it. Van Dijk is a good example, we were never really in for him but our name kept getting used. Once we signed Laporte, Liverpool knew we weren't, still ended up paying stupid money as Southampton dug their heels in.

Excellent point.

If I was a player and my agent started fucking around with a potential dream move I'd sack them off immediately
