Thanks blues. If I am allowed to ask one more off topic question, how does one measure the mean/average results of a football team ? I mean what would be the mean points tally of city squad + Jorginho, Mahrez ?

You get the historic data from a site such as www.premierleague.com and then you calculate the average over period you are interested in. Everyone makes an assessment of how the playing potential of teams changes over the course of a Summer transfer window, but no one would rely on it because there are too many variables in a teams results.

But I'm not sure we have enough data to model 'this' city team, because I don't consider the Pellegrini years to have any relevance on how 'this' team performs !!

To be honest mate, the poster who mentioned City and Salah were above their mean, was just suggesting we over achieved. I don’t think he was basing it on actual statistical data.

It was just a turn of phrase, like saying we shot under-par. I think he was right in what he was saying, there’s absolutely no way we’ll get 100 points next season.
