Riyad Mahrez

Well Einstein what value would you put on Mahrez? Come on don't be shy put your cards on the table. Surely you are not just another of the happy clappers like Karen and Oakie who think City can and should pay whatever it takes to get whoever they want. Strange that those that are so desperate to belittle the views if others when they quote values mentioned in the media and state they don't think he is worth that money are shit scared of actually putting a figure on what they think he is worth. Pretty poor stuff to be honest.

FwIW I dread the day we are thought of like United where we piss money away and buy whoever we want and come across as so fucking arrogant, just like them, where we expect to be able to buy whoever whatever the cost. It saddens and seems to me many blues are quite prepared to follow that route and attitude in the pursuit of sucess. I think many on this forum would come across like that to a visitor.
Not my problem couldnt care less what we pay. The club will decide worth and what we can afford. We seem pretty close so they seem happy at what that price is. All I need to do is go,and enjoy watching him play for us and expect him to be another important player for us.

Fair enough. But if you couldn't care less what we pay perhaps you shouldn't criticise others for offering their opinion on what they think he is worth?

This hasn't been talked about much, but Mahrez's vision and his understanding of timing is pretty poor.

He often covers this with skillful play. But the number of times he fails to see a play developing is pretty disappointing.

Hopefully Pep can improve this part of his game. And perhaps better talent around him would help.

But watch any of his dribbling videos and time and time again he is busy dribbling 'head down' and misses key opportunities.
The Leicester fans who watch him game in, game out say different & sorry, but I agree with them. He's a supremely gifted player who puts the shits up me & most opposition fans whenever they see him coming at their defence.

What you or I think he is worth is irrelevant. It is what the club thinks he is worth that matters.
I will therefore tell you again, he is only worth what someone is willing to pay

I think you are making £90 m up, so state your sources of such rumours
To be fair, I've read several reports saying Leicester are holding out for £75m plus Roberts (valued at £15m by City), pushing the deal to £90m.

In January, Leicester wanted £95m cash only. Reports are also saying City are offering £60m plus Roberts (valued at £15m by City), which brings the deal to £75m.

Taking all the various reports into account & what the few Leicester fans on here have said, it sounds like there may be some truth to the reports of Leicester holding out for £75m plus Roberts which would explain why Mahrez is still their player.

I Know I'll get hammered for this and I'll preface by saying that I'll be happy to have Mahrez.

But can you imagine having a front 3 of:

Martial Jesus Sane

For the next 10 yrs. Martial has bucket loads of talent and I think Pep could cure the problems with his workrate and application. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I think there's some people here whose opinion is tainted by who he plays for. If they are dumb enough to try and offload a player of his quality and age to buy another 30 yr old big name has been, we should be all over it. And yes, tell me I have rocks in my head and that I'm an idiot who knows nothing about football but I'd have Martial over Mahrez. Having said that, I'll hardly be disappointed if we get Mahrez.

Sane and Martial both play on the left.

For what it’s worth I rate Martial when I have seen him but don’t watch there 0-0 draws that much.

A couple of match going fans say he flatters in the highlights and are not as bothered about him going. Although a more attack minded manager could do better with him.

I remember the Martial before Moureen got his bore claws into him. Moureen did the same to SWP, Joe Cole & others, in that he took away their unpredictable flare that made them exciting & dangerous, & turned them into system robots.

I've no doubt that Martial could be rescued by a proper manager before Moureen ruins him. Same goes for Rashford too. I couldn't see Martial going for more than £35m based on current form, but because of his age he must well be worth a punt.

I’m confident Pep can fix this. This used to be Raheem’s sickness.

Martial, now aged 22: 15 goals in 70 games for Monaco, 36 in 136 for Utd. Best season for both: 9 league goals for Monaco, 11 for Utd.
Rony Lopez, age 22: Last season 15 goals in 38 league games for Monaco.

Why not skip Martial, and sign Rony Lopez ?

Or just stick with the original plan & sign Mahrez, seeing as he is capable of the same goal output but is five times better footballer than Martial ?
