Riyad Mahrez

Would expect him to stick around if he’s prepared to bide his time. This moment in time he doesn’t start. If Bernardo leaves, he’s behind foden, as I see Kova straight replacing gundo. See more of an impact role off the bench, early cup rounds and champs league group games. He forced his way here to leave Leicester after he’d just won Poty and won a league title….never felt like he’s a guy who hops on the gravy train. Never once has he been speculated as unhappy or wanting out….he’s sound as a pound for me.
I don't think he would accept being a bit part layer. I think he would leave if he thinks he has no chance at starting.

It would be an incredible opportunity for Mahrez but also a chance for the club to bring some fresh and younger blood in? Anything £40m plus I reckon the club would rip their hands off and fair play to Riyad if he can get the cash that’s been rumored then fair play to him, been a great signing but business is business and life is life and as long as the club replace him then alls good.

I really believe that Mahrez wants to stay and fight for the starting position like he has done these last 5 years (I have noticed you usually don't select him in your starting XI, for example). He said his age is still not a factor for him at this juncture. IMO, he will go only if he believes he can't be a starter in big games anymore.

All you say is undoubtedly true even before he arrived he was doing amazing things while still at Leicester...

That's his last three seasons there he was way more productive at Leicester than a world class regarded Hazard was at Chelsea, that's a player who cost Real Madrid over £100m yet he bettered him even in his last 3 Leicester seasons, he's got all of Eden's Majestic dribbling skills and first touch but on the other wing a way more productive output too.

Many will say Hazard (at his best) is the better overall player that is probably true but I'd argue Riyad Mahrez as a whole in world football is underrated, it's just we've been lucky enough to have so many world class players his contribution has maybe gone more unnoticed, than say if he was somewhere else because we've been completely spoilt for choice having many big game players.

Always dangerous always puts fear in opposition full backs even if he can drive people (me included) nuts at times when he has off days, he's been mostly effective ever since he joined us his numbers have carried on being consistently good.

Yes he's been annoying for all of us at times but he's also been pivotal to our success since arriving too... His haters (and I'm far from his biggest fan) should cut him some slack he's been a really great signing, when we've needed him to step up he's delivered and sometimes even done it all on his own.
Agree with everything up to this point, but I want to point out Riyad is 1 in 4 for assists & 1 in 3 for goals since coming to City.

We can't jump off a cliff edge without adequately replacing this level of output, but from whom?

Several of us have put forward many different names with no clear consensus on which younger player could replace Mahrez with no drop off in skill & team contribution.

Also, we shouldn't forget how desperate he was to come here. He went on strike & made it absolutely clear he only wanted City, unlike others we've been interested in who've jumped at other competing offers when the chance arose like Maguire, Cucurella etc...

Like Walker, Riyad has another two seasons left at the very top, & I think we should seriously be using that time to find another Mahrez-like player to eventually replace him.

He'll go down as one of the most underrated City players of all time imo. I can't see what the benefit of £40m is to City, if we're losing a player of this calibre with his level of goals & assists.

We'd be better off keeping him until his contract is up... )(

Having said all that all things come to an end and I think now might be the right time for him and us to part ways, it'd be a great deal for us if we get the rumoured £40m and it possibly gives us a chance to break Palmer/others through, while Riyad gets to earn crazy money for the sunset of his career... A win win all round.

If Riyad Mahrez leaves I'll be very thankful for his contribution to a fantastic period in our clubs history.
FFS was and still is a quality player.

His first touch is one of the greatest I have ever seen on ANY player to have played the game.

Whenever anyone suggests a Mharez replacment,as far as I can see at least, it never seems to be a wde player with the same skill set as Mharez. In fact I think a player that has his ball control, first touch and ball retention with the assists and goals will be a very difficult player to find.

the guy and his family even tho are Muslims lived their whole lives in France and they can't even speak Arabic btw
Pretty sure his girlfriend and mother to his child is the daughter of a TV Cheshire house wife and he goes out drinking in town all the time, he’s not devout

My point exactly mate. It's only when it's laid out in front of you that the realisation hits how special Riyad is...

Some seem keen to push mahrez out of the door, he's scored some important goals had some motm performances for us I would be very happy for him to stay.
I want him to stay but he's 32, so if we can get 30 to 40m for him, it would be a decent transfer for all parties.

Only if we have a suitable replacement identified otherwise we'd be better off without the money and scouting out a replacement in our own time.

And yet he has still retained his ffs nickname. You'd have thought we would have found a better nickname for him.

They made allowances for Ronaldo mate. KSA are desperately trying to change their image & soften their Sharia Law for Western foreign nationals...
My cousin and his wife we’re not allowed to live together until they got legally married.

If it meant keepng Bernardo happy for another season then we wouldn't need a replacement & We went 12 months without replacing Sergio, which we came out of the otherside ok.
It could be the making of Palmer or McAtee with a full season of playing time, more than 5 minutes of junk time. We'd certainly know where we stand with Cole.
