Robbie Savic

He is awesome! Future leader of our club and be one of the best CB's in the world.

Yet in each and every game he's played, he's put in an excellent performance. Personally, I'd begin to start him against weaker opposition in the Premier League now to get him up to pace with a view to getting him into our first choice starting eleven.

I'll agree he might need to bulk up a little more, but he's certainly no push over at the moment.[/quote]

agree that hes played well in the games he's played in, however until he plays consistently in the team ,against stronger opposition then blackburn for ten minutes? or birmingham, or even england, I just can't say hes excellent , more I can see the potential in abundance

He might start against Villa and Lescott against Villarreal unless Mancini plays Kolo for one of them instead, but Kolo wasn't even on the bench against Blackburn so who knows.

Savic can start ahead of Lescott when he puts the Stoke forwards in his pocket for 90 minutes like Lescott. Joleon is monstrously strong and has superb timing in the air.

Until then Savic can hit the weight room. I don't think he'll be ready to take first choice CB for years.

I was thinking this, which is a shame as his first paragraph is spot on.

Next season for Robbie, I reckon.

Savic is 20. If he is first choice of a top 4 club by 22, that is a resounding success. Ask yourself how many top PL clubs have CB who are first choice by 22.

If he is as good as Lescott by 22, he will exceed my expectations. Don't be fooled by the chatter about Lescott's deficiencies. Yes, he has them, but he has some very important strengths too, and those strengths shore up some critical weaknesses in our side, like our aerial vulnerability when he's not in the starting 11.

Let's not put too much pressure on Savic. He will have to work very hard to be as good as Lescott and it may not happen for a few years. Boateng had all the tools required and it never happened for him.
