So we want Ireland to learn from a lazy, has-been?

The only thing he has lost is his pace/fitness, his footballing brain will still be ticking awayand his technique will still be good and thats what Ireland needs to learn from.

Deco may be our next surprise signing if Robinho is to be believed. Although well past his best at 31 yrs old, Deco could still play a role at City especially if Elano departs. Any thoughts?

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1202149/Robinho-City-galacticos-big-Madrid-Barcelona.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... elona.html</a>

We still lack a creative player like Paul Scholes. A player that can thread defence splitting passes to the strikers. Ireland is good at what he does and has seemingly boundless energy but does not supply enough killer passes.

Deco is nowhere near that now. He's past his peak. Pirlo has peaked about two years ago and is probably a better solution but will either stay at Milan or move to reunite with Ancelotti.

An Italian international, Gaetano D'Agostino, is now seen as a future replacement to Pirlo. Last month Juventus bid €17m and Paolucci on loan to his present club Udinese, but the bid was rejected. They then turned to Fiorentina's Brazilian internation, Felipe Melo and picked him up instead. Nevertheless, when an Italian Top 4 club were close to signing him, it reveals that this guy has talent and, at 27, experience.

So for me I'd rather see us get a deep lying playmaker like D'Agostino or the Saint-Etienne central midfield player Blaise Matuidi, a player that both Arsene Wenger and David Moyes are known to admire and the subject of much discussion throughout Europe.

Although the South African friendlies were played with understrength line-ups we were staggeringly poor in the build up play, at times looking very much like some of the forgettable experiences last season. Friendlies are used to develop ideas and playing strategies and none of this was too apparent in the three matches as far as attacking flair went. I'm pretty sure that Mark Hughes did not learn too much from these matches save for the fact that he realizes that he has a lot of work on his hands in developing a more cohesive and effective attacking style of play..

Has it occurred to anyone that Robinho seems to make all our decisions these days ??
Get Tevez, get Eto'o !!!

Why are we even paying Hughes !!??
