You're right but we're paying English tax and potential. I think we saw an opportunity for someone who could be magical in a couple of years and took it - if Bernie leaves for say £60m then we've only had a £40m outlay as well.

I know he's 33 but don't be silly. He's still one of the best 2 or 3 strikers in Europe. We paid more than that for Patrick Roberts to go into our youth team.

I'll point out the obvious - we did the Patrick Roberts deal hoping he'd make the grade, or at least be worth more when it came time for him to move on.
