roberto de matteo sacked

Hah. Abramovich never liked RDM in the first place, looks like he can't even wait to sack him. Completely, and utterly unjustified.

Opta Joe on Twitter: "Roberto Di Matteo lasted 262 days as Chelsea manager, longer than Villas-Boas (256), Grant (247) and Scolari (223)."

Di Matteo had no reputation worth speaking about when he failed at West Brom.
Chelsea had success last year thanks to their ageing players' collective team spirit, will to win, and luck - incredible luck. But, as the man who's lap the job fell into when AVB got the boot, Di Matteo got the credit.
Notwithstanding that success, it was impossible for him not to be seen as a hapless 'yes' man who was no more than a stop gap. I believe that players have been signed without his say so, and he was retained only because the required big name wasn't immediately available - whether he's available now, time will tell.
Di Matteo walks away with a much improved reputation and CV, and so rich that he will never have to work again. It's hard for me to be sympathetic - he was out of his depth and did well to tread water for as long as did.
The Chelsea machine continues to grind, but I wonder how much longer Roman will want to continue bank rolling it, having already won his cherished prize?

Another victory for our xenophobic media who will soon turn their attentions back to Mancini.
To pose some questions:

Which manager won nothing last year, blew an 8 points lead, and crashed out of an easy European group at the first stage?
Which manager wasted £133m by signing Bebe, Smalling, Powell, Jones, De Gea, Kagawa, Buttner, Young, Henriquez..none of whom are good enough for a top four side
Which manager presided over a team which has already lost five times this season and conceded 28 goals in all competitions.
I'll give you a clue: He's the one the press pack sang Happy Birthday to!

Smalling, and Kagawa are.

Hope Pep has the sense to avoid this mess. Graveyard of managers.

On the plus side, Chelsea may not have a manager by this weekend, and our game against Real will be overshadowed in the press.

Good day to release the accounts as well

But he hasn't kept di matteo on until the end of the season, that's the point. Mancini had a bad run and we won the league, di matteo has a bad run, sacked. That's the difference in owners and that's the point being made.
